Hmmm, I can't say I 100% understand what you're saying. Sounds like it has to do with the difference between blogging, and other types of posts? And what will happen if more "other" posts keep coming?

Yup, that is 100% what I am saying!

Cool :)
Well, as a content-creator, I'm often annoyed by the people who game this blockchain for profits, while providing proportionally little in value. I find that curation isn't often based on value added, but financial decisions, greed, politics, and insider agreements. Exceptional content sometimes gets rewarded, but often doesn't. Spammers who game the system tend to get reliable results from that, which is why it's so prevalent. The rest of us can't do very much about it. Sometimes I get upset and speak out, which has mixed results. Usually I just turn it inward, ask myself how I can provide more and better content, up my game, double down on my efforts to improve the blockchain with exceptional content (and no garbage).
Thanks for bringing up the topic :)

How much of that system gaming you are referring to are organic votes, and how much are bots? I'm guessing the majority is facilitated by bid bots.

I don't know. Gaming is a pretty broad category of actions. A lot of it probably involves automation, which would mean bots. But you and I could be 'gaming' things right now, if we wanted to. Just on a smaller scale. Maybe we already are? Maybe this isn't a genuine discussion, and we're just shitposting comments for the other to upvote? ;)
I guess there are degrees to it. Some people are spamming (and/or gaming and/or botting) their way to success, without providing much of real value to the rest of us.

SteemIt definitely should address this. Maybe default to filtering out tags belonging to certain apps and such? Otherwise l, I do believe things will get worse as the ecosystem grows

Agreed. I've long been a supporter of the idea that UIs should filter posts better to suit move individual users. This is more likely to happen on the specialised frontends and not on the more generic steemit / condenser frontends.
