Legaspi Village in Makati, Philippines has a myriad of restaurants for the office goers and residents living nearby. Many restaurants have realized the potential of investing in neighborhood eats particularly in Rada Street of Legaspi Village.

There is a sense of calmness and that Sunday morning feeling when eating in this food haven. Rada Street is a good outlet to unwind from the fast paced city. I was actually surprised that such a place exists in the middle of the busy streets and office buildings of Makati. It reminded me of SoHo in New York where yuppies hang out in quaint little shops and hole in the walls.

One restaurant in particular is an obvious standout in this little strip. Nikkei is a Japanese Peruvian restaurant that serves Ceviche, Sushi, Causa, Tiraditos, and Japanese Craft Spirits. The meaning of Nikkei came from the Peruvian cuisine inspired by Japanese who migrated to Peru in the 19th century and is slowly becoming the latest food trend to take over Europe. Yes, you heard that right. It is a fusion of Japanese food and Peru’s culinary tradition. Every dish is well thought off. It may come as something new to the palette but the contrast works.

Nikkei is owned by the same owners of Shi Lin, Refinery, and Banoi's so you are defitinely in good hands. It is headed by Argentinian Chef Christian Cejas whom you can get a sight off when you sit near the open kitchen.

Nikkei prides itself in giving the authentic Japanese Peruvian food experience. The place gives a cozy feel with the modern interiors and lighting that sets the ambiance. The open kitchen is also a unique touch. It is a great place to catch up with friends or just to try something new. Do not be deceived by the look of the place. It seems intimidating at first because of the class and sophistication it exudes but the price is quite affordable and the quality remains uncompromised.

Make sure to mark your calendars every Monday because they offer 20% off on ala Carte and lunch set items. They also have a happy hour that is perfect for after work drinks which is at 4-7pm daily with 25% off on all craft cocktails and draft beer. Nikkei is truly one of the breakout restaurants of 2015. It is sure to bring more surprises and fusions this 2016 as proven by its consistent spot in Booky’s Top 10 restaurants list not just in Makati but in all Metro Manila. We recommend the Parmesan Scallops, Grilled Ebi Sushi Rolls, Salmon Belly Nigiri, and Seared Tuna. There are others on the menu that you have to try out yourselves. Tell us about it and be ready for one gastronomic experience.
