There has been a lot of FUD and negativity in the crypto space over the last few weeks as the markets continue to bleed. However I like to look for oppurtunities in times like this, and see powering up right now as having the potential for massive benefits in the future.

Why power up?

Firstly let's quickly look at why I think people should be powering up:

1. Steem power gives users more influence on the platform (in terms of upvotes/flags)
2. Users are attracted to those with higher Steem power (as they can offer higher rewards), and so it will help your following grow.
3. Ability to delegate. Along with building your own influence, SP can be delegated to projects (helping them grow), and also receiving extra benefits for delegating, such as extra tokens or upvotes.

Ok, so why power up now?

In terms of powering up I am talking about trasfering any SBD to Steem, and then powering up.

Lets look the prices

The price of Steem at writing this article is around $0.59 and has lost about 16% of its value in the last 24 hours (and showing no signs of stopping).

SBD on the other hand is priced around $0.93 and has only lost around 3 % over the same 24 hour period. SBD has fluctuated wildly in the past but over the last 3 months seemed to have settled in price around the $1 peg.

So....

At the current prices according to steem.supply, we can see the following ratio:

1:1.543

This means for every one SBD you can power up 1.543 Steem - thats an excellent deal if you ask me!

If we expect the price of SBD to remain stable (more or less), and Steem to eventually rise, then now is the perfect oppurtunity to power up at a discounted rate!
