Steemalliance WG First Proposal - Integrate different languages
Hello,
Last week I wrote that I will start making proposals for the Steemalliance WG.
My first suggestion would be to integrate several languages. I see people pushing in English but I would extend the reach and include channels for the different languages.
Why? Especially because of decentralization.
Now I would list the arguments for it:
Decentralization
Reach of the people - so you can reach more people on Steem who do not speak English. Even in the United States, there are other official languages, such as Spanish.
Better communication - so you can bring better suggestions and proposal through a native language.
Against this proposal, I see only the ignorance of the people who speak only English and who want to centralize the talks.
How do you see it?

Hallo,

I wholeheartedly agree. All the SteemAlliance posts should be translated in at least a few languages if we want to be serious about having the SteemAlliance for 'all people'. Now it is skewed to just one part of the globe unfortunately.
a call has already gone out from the Working Group inviting community members to translate the SA posts ... a channel is being established in the discord for those translations to reside to make finding them easier.
Any member of the community is welcome to do translations .. and I believe there have been a couple of groups approached to participate.
Awesome! Thanks for the additional info @shadowspub. I'm a translator so I can do my part. We should also work together on this with @davinci.witness who are managing all the translations on Open Source projects for Utopian - @misslasvegas, any ideas who we should talk with about this?
Just go ahead and translate published posts then stop into SA and let us know you have one to contribute

My goals are bigger than just translating it to my own language ;-)
Try to push Chinese and Spanish first, as this two are one of the most spoken languages in the world.

That is true, I followed the discussions closely. I mean I want to see some different language channels like Chinese as at the moment Chinese is the main spoken language in the world. Also Chinese native speakers speak bad English and don't usually get the sense out of it.
Happy to see you commenting on my post. My vote was well cast on you, as you take the time to explain. 😉

Thank you @alexvan. There was a very lengthy discussion about languages and language channels. The feeling was that language specific channels would not add value to the work of the Working Group at this time. The translations of the WG's posts would definitely do so.
I realize there are concerns about any future foundation being mindful of the presence of multiple languages groups on Steem. While it is not within the mandate of the WG to mandate that awareness and provision for the various groups be built in, it is within the ability of the community collectively to reach out to those who are creating proposals and letting them know how you feel.
Those who are writing proposals are not resident in the Steem Alliance discord, they are and will be spread out across the platform. So, energies to reach them and let your feelings on the matter be known might be better directed to writing posts on the matter and finding out who is preparing proposals.
A translation bot has been brought into the discord to attempt to bridge language barriers. I know that is limited but at this point it is about the best tool we have to enable people of all languages to come together and talk together rather than in language silos.
Well, hope that people will open up and help also the others.

Fully agree.
Same goes for Chinese etc. Seems like people who don’t speak English they have no chance of interacting with others....Would it be difficult if there was an option implemented to automatically translate texts into 4/5 main languages?
I think Chinese is more spoken into the world than English. I don't speak it, but this would be my first choice for translation.
Also Spanish and Hindu, to catch 2/3 of the world.

I agree with you, but maybe integrating different languages is very difficult at this point because there are more important issues...
I think that there are more important issues. But this takes 2 minutes and can be solved by few clicks. To insert them into the discord channel.
