England lift the World Cup. Congratulations to England, commiseration to New Zealand!steemCreated with Sketch.

Yesterday we witnessed a match that will be remembered forever in cricket history. It wasn't a round Robin match or any other match of a series, it was World Cup final! Most of you have witnessed it and I don't know how to put it in words. A match that had everything in it, a match that will be remembered fir generations. There was no looser. Though England won the world cup but surely and by no means did New Zealand loose.

Kane Williamson won the toss early in the day and elected to bat first. It was a 50-50 decision. You always want to put up a score on the board and ask the opponents to chase it. The score board pressure always feels in big games and the surface looked like it will be harder to play on at the later end of second innings. But there were a bit overcast conditions, which would help the bowlers initially. So, it was a 50-50 decision and Williamson, I think, made the right choice.

New Zealand posted a modest total of 241-8 in 50 overs. The surface wasn't too good for batting and it was difficult one to bat on. New Zealand were good to have this score because of that reason and also the added advantage they had over England of chasing that score down.

England came out to bat and New Zealand bowlers gave them nothing away. Roy did play some good shots but he was beaten on many occasions by Henry as well, and finally had him nicking one to wicketkeeper, Tom Latham. Matt Henry bowled exceptionally well and was brilliantly supported by Colin de Grandhomme - who's figures read 10-2-25-1. It was a brilliant bit of character shown by the New Zealand bowlers that once really left England in a position that only they could come out of. England were 86-4 in 23.1 overs with Jimmy Neesham picking up the priced scalp of England captain Eoin Morgan.

Then came in the England's best batsman, according to me, Jos Butler. The time he walked in Michael Vaughn tweeted "Come on @josbuttler.. I will buy you wine if you win us this from here.. #CWC19"
It was his partnership with Ben Stokes of 110 (130 balls) in which he scored 59 off just 60 balls that really took the game to a position where it could be won by England. New Zealand after that bowled exceptionally well. Gave nothing away to the new batsmen. Got Woakes cheaply and the Plunkett for 10.

Jimmy Neesham came into bowl when 24 were required of 12 balls and he bowled a fantastic over to only give away 9 runs and picked up two wickets as well. England were 226-8 and needed 15 to win the match. Boult came in to bowl the final over of the innings. He bowled two exceptional yorkers for no run and then conceded a six. The fourth ball was where all the drama happened.

Stokes hit the ball into deep mid wicket where Guptil came in charging to save a couple. He positioned himself for a direct hit at Stokes' end. Ben Stokes dived full length and the ball that was heading towards stumps hit his bat and deflected towards the boundary and hence giving England a six. Ben apologized for whatever had happened but he couldn't do anything about it. Guptil was shocked, as he might have got Ben run out but what fortune!. The next two balls yielded two runs and two run outs leading the match to a tie! England all out on 241.

So we had a super over. England batting first with Ben Stokes and Jos Buttler coming on to bat. Tret Boult with the ball. The batsmen scored 15 of the super over and New Zealand needed 16 to win, 15 wasn't good enough for them as they would loose on boundaries count. Jimmy Neesham and Guptil came in to bat for New Zealand and it was Jofra Archer to bowl for England. What happened next was something very hard to digest - another tie! I know it's hard being a cricket fan, the way New Zealand played, in fact they played better than England in the match and they DID NOT deserve to loose.

There was no looser, it was a tie. But England did win the world cup. Though there was actually an error during the game where 6 runs were given on the throw of the forth ball of final over. When Guptil threw the ball the batsmen had not crossed and only one run would be counted according to the rules - plus the extra 4 of the deflection. So only 5 runs should have been awarded rather than 6. But nothing is to happen now and whatever has happened has happened. At the end it was as Ian Smith said it rightly, "Ecstasy for England, Agony for New Zealand". England did win the world cup, but New Zealand won over World.

Yeah it was a thrilling match. A match that will be remembered for ever in cricket history. New Zealand will be gutted to loose the world cup in the way they did. It's a shame!
