NBA Finals prediction right on schedule

If you read my post from a little over two weeks ago, I said, before the playoffs started, that I felt like the NBA Playoffs were a 4-team race between the Houston Rockets, Golden State Warriors, Cleveland Cavaliers and the Philadelphia 76ers. So far, my prediction is right on schedule. I predicted that the Rockets would face off against the 76ers in the finals and nothing in the playoffs so far has shown me that this prediction will not come to fruition.

Both the Rockets and the 76ers handily won their first round series 4 - 1. The Rockets defeated the Minnesota Timberwolves with an onslaught of 3-point baskets, tough defense and crisp ball movement from James Harden and his fellow teammates. For the 76ers, they handled the Miami Heat like true world beaters, with dynamite passing from Ben Simmons, clutch shots by J.J. Redick and great post play by Joel Embiid. Embiid even missed the first two games of the series, but it did not make a difference.

Golden State defeated the San Antonio Spurs in five games to move on to the second round, but they did struggle throughout the series. The Spurs did not have their best player, Kawhi Leonard, due to injury, yet the Spurs kept most of the games close. Now the Warriors also did not have one of their best players, Point Guard Steph Curry, but they still should have put up a much better effort, especially since they are the defending champions.

The Cleveland Cavaliers have been in a dog fight (metaphorically) with the Indiana Pacers. The Cavs lead their series 3 - 2, and unless the Pacers shock everyone in the sports world, the Cavs will be moving on to the next round. Though they are leading their series, the Cavs do not look like a team that can challenge the 76ers in the East. They have continued their sloppy play and look quite vulnerable to young, fast teams with good outside shooting, exactly what the 76ers have.

As for the others series' in the East, no teams in the Washington Wizards vs Toronto Raptors series, nor the Milwaukee Bucks vs Boston Celtics series look like they can challenge the 76ers or even the struggling Cavaliers.

As for in the West, the Utah Jazz still look like they are going to eliminate the Oklahoma City Thunder, up 3 - 2 in their series. The New Orleans Pelicans swept the #3 seed Portland Trailblazers in four games, setting up a matchup with the Golden State Warriors in round 2. After the addition of Nikola Mirotic at the trade deadline, the Pelicans have looked like a dangerous team. They are the only team that I could see throwing a wrench into my predictions. They have the outside game with Mirotic and Jrue Holiday, as well as the post game with All-Star Anthony Davis (don't forget Rajon Rando running the point position), but I do still believe that the Warriors have too much firepower and will defeat the Pelicans in a hard fought matchup. And I do believe the Rockets will defeat either the Jazz or the Thunder, handily.

In conclusion, I still see a matchup between the Rockets and 76ers in the finals. Both teams look like the strongest in their conferences and are playing with a lot of fire and attitude. What do you guys think will happen? Let me know and thanks for reading!

Philadelphia has a strong roster with a great charisma, but they lack experience. I think that they could have different and more difficult play-off games in western side; however I presume that now they do not have a eastern antagonist, because Toronto is not enough.
In the finlas I think that they will not be able to win more than 2 games.

@moncia90 Oh I agree that it is not looking like anybody in the East will challenge them, including Toronto. Experience is a fickle thing, though. Golden Statw didn't have any experience in the Finals when they won their first one. Just a bunch of talented, young guys. Sometimes naievity of the moment can prevent you from becoming nervous. But it is true, no matter what, I think Philly would win two games at the most in the finals.

I would like to have a basketball collaboration with you, just a post. Do you like the idea???

You will be wrong. Golden State and Cleveland will be in the Finals again.

Lebron has the best player in the East. Their role players will figure it out.

Nobody is beating Golden State. They have the most dynamic offense and efficiency of player movement with the combination of stars that have symmetry in the league. Unfortunately, Klay Thompson will make it hard for James Harden (*when has he shown he can lead a team into the finals?).

Chris Paul will rise to the occasion, but will not be enough for a KD, Draymond's length, athleticism, and understanding.

What players do you think are going to figure it out? Cleveland does not have a player that can take over a game when Lebron is off his game. Kevin Love, Korver, Jr Smith, Clarkson...all spot up shooters that are not good at creating on their own. Also, Both Capela with Houston and Embiid with Philly have more than enough length to contend with the smaller Draymond Green. I still think Golden State has the most talent, but I don't think we are going to see the same Steph Curry and I think that Houston finally has the firepower, court general and post game to take down the defending champs.

There's just something about the Cavs though.. Oh wait, its LeBron! My bet is still on them

Lebron is the best player in the league, except for maybe Kevin Durant. It is hard to bet against him. However, without Kyrie Irving, it is just not the same team as before. I'm curious to see how, even if they are able to beat the Pacers in game 7, they are able to handle another young, energetic team like Milwaukee or Boston.

The Jazz lost a game they should have won, I had a season seat of the Raptors when I was living in Toronto

Will post about my second round prediction soon.
Keep sharing about Basketball, enjoy reading it

I don't know if you watched the game last night, but the blatant missed call on the Paul George 3-point shot really left a bad taste in my mouth. The Jazz played outstanding, even with Rubio going down with injury, but that was such a poor no call. I can't help but feel with the momentum swing in that game, that the Thunder would have forced a game 7. Kudos to the Jazz, but truly disappointing that such a good series came down to a bad call.

Did not watch it, wokring like crazy and so many games to see, will watch it back tomorrow, just watched the Raptors game.
Will post about my weekly preformers tomorrow as well, but first to bed, only 6 hours before my next shift starts.

The NBA always presents surprises, interesting posts. Happy greetings from a height of 1300 meters

Genuinely speaking, I've never watched the NBA, but it's really great to see your analysis regarding particular sport and people can make effective predictions when they watch particular sports in and out and with great observations and this post truly reflects that. Keep this enthusiasm in sports and thanks for sharing. Wishing you an great day. Stay blessed. 🙂
