Mercedes-Benz Stadium Becomes One Of The First Sports Stadiums To Go Entirely Cashless
The Mercedes-Benz Stadium located in Atlanta, Georgia, has become one of the first sports stadiums in the world to go entirely cashless for their food and drinks. The goal was to hopefully cut down on the concession lines and overall boost sales and efficiency, and so far, it looks to be working.
The stadium, which is owned by the state of Georgia, is one of the most well-known in the country and hosts a variety of games and bowl tournaments etc.
Since going entirely cashless earlier this year it's reported that the stadium has seen much faster lines now for the concession, and people are buying roughly the same amount of goods, if not more.
The feedback that they are getting from the fans has also been positive and they've seen a great deal of people report that the lines are moving much faster than usual now.
Some jurisdictions have previously established restrictions against the prospect of going cashless, with cities offering fines to businesses that don't accept cash, and the stadium is looking to mitigate that issue by offering this alternative with the cash-to-card kiosks that give those cash-holders an option.
This stadium holds many events every year and sees tens of thousands of attendees, if the stadium can improve transactions by even a fraction with this new policy, then that will have a big impact overall, across the year.
The Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta isn't the only venue to consider going cashless, they aren't even the first, there are others now as well and who knows how quickly the trend might pick-up, with more opting to make the same cashless changes in the future. It's reported that the first stadium in the U.S. to go entirely cashless was Tropicana Field in Florida.

Must keep at least a cash-to-card option, yes... Love crypto and cards, but always want the cash option for the sake of freedom.

i'm always for options 👏
Crypto has got to be next!
Actually, I remember the last time I went to a stadium I was buying some beer. I had just gotten paid cash for something so I actually had money on me for a change. The girl at the stand said “wow. Haven’t really seen a lot of 20s lately”. I told her it was because I had them all!
Everything is digital now anyhow so we are sliding towards crypto.

i get that often still when paying with cash lol they're usually ready with the machine and then surprised it's not needed
Very interesting.. I have to wonder about all those cashless conspiracy theories when I see news like this, but after getting involved with steem I feel like a cashless society would likely be a positive direction to head, as long as we have some controls and that the powers that shouldn't be can't just sort of "turn off" our account. Fascinating times we are going into, will be curious to see how it plays out.
Not the news until they go full crypto, @doitvoluntarily ;))
buying a hot dog with steem!
Can’t wait :)
Cash is currently the only mainstream way to make private transactions. We need to be very cautious about giving up our ability to not be tracked in our purchases. Steemit needs a privacy option like EOS has now has in order to be a positive force for freedom.
