His name is Hakan Sükür, a former striker for the Turkish national team, who has scored the fastest goal in the history of the World Cup. He needed only 10 seconds to score, it was against South Korea in the 2002 Korea-Japan World Cup in the match where they were playing for third place, a title that they won with a 3-2 win in the final score. In addition to this personal best, he is also the Turkish national team's all-time top scorer with 51 goals in 112 games.

The future for this great player looked bright, in his country he was considered an idol for his performance with his national team, but things did not happen this way, Sükür decides to retire from football to start his career as a politician in Turkey.

In 2011, he was elected to the Turkish parliament by the political party of President Recepp Erdogan of Turkey. He remained in office for two and a half years until one day he decided to resign due to corruption scandals and an alleged link with Fethullan Gülen, a political exile in the United States who was found guilty in investigations by the Erdogan government.

In August 2016 he was accused of belonging to a Turkish armed terrorist gang, so he decided to travel to the United States to go into exile and forget about ever returning to Turkey.

He currently lives in Palo Alto, a town near San Francisco. There he set up a modern café called Tuts Bakery, where he offers a great variety of dishes to taste, and he manages it himself.

This is how a football star from a country gets to run a food business. I think how different his path would have been if he had stayed in football, forgotten politics and focused on his career, I'm sure the outcome of this story would have been different. The truth is that he left a great legacy in his country which will remain for a while until someone with the same or perhaps better qualities of this good player arrives.
