From the Spiritual Side - What Do You Keep Going Back To?

This morning I was spending some time in a devotional and had a bit of an emotional breakdown. I'm having some health issues and my emotions got the best of me.

So I asked the Lord if He could speak to me and tell me what I needed to know in this hour, this season of my life. His answer was quite prompt.

He said "Why do people continue to go back and invite that which has brought such destruction into their life....again. Life is short and the alternative is even shorter. Why does an alcoholic spend time drinking and hanging with friends who do at the expense of family, their health. Why does the diabetic continue to consume food and drinks that only continue to increase the disease? Why does the person who is addicted to pornography, continuing watching to the detriment of their marriage? Why do fathers and mothers not want to spend time with their family but would rather do the very things that destroy their relationships with their kids? Why do people complain about what they don't have instead of going out and getting it? Why are they settling for less than what I have for them?"

This brought such revelation to me about overpowering the strong man or the soul ties in our lives. It reminded me that the fight is real and we have to be on our toes, diligent in protecting all that is sacred in our lives. If you look at your days, weeks, months and years, you will know quickly what is not right in your life. Are you cutting your life short? Life is already short. Are you spending time with your kids, encouraging them to be all they can be, listening to what they have to say?

Are you watching what you are eating and drinking that will shorten an already short life here on earth? Are you going to continue to let an addiction control your life instead of getting control over that addiction? Once your heart stops beating, you are done. Are you protecting the most important organ in your body?

I think today, since the Lord took time to answer my question, I'll begin to make changes. I'm going to make a few phone calls to my kids, my sisters, my mom, even friends and tell them how much I love them; how important they are in my life. How about you?
