About the photo above

As i said in my last post, yesterday i went out on the street of Bucharest to take some street shots for the @sndbox Quest. It was freezing, about -5 Celsius and the wind was kinda bad also, making my hand stuck to the camera.

But this is not about me, the photo above is about homeless people that freeze in this conditions. I guess this is an international issue, but in Romania there are so few organizations that try to do something about it.

Usually when i photography people in this situation on the street, i also try to help them. This time i bought him a hot tea and a sandwich and also gave him some money. Hopefully this helps him a little with the conditions outside. At lest he had a friend with him, the dog seemed so attached and grateful that somebody takes care of him.

Street photography

In my opinion street photography is so powerful. It can show you the everyday life of a city, it can teach you about the routines of people, about their struggles and their happiness.

Usually i don't photograph many people in my street photography, i made a style of mine to capture more of the architecture, the road or the parks. I always had been nervous capturing portraits on the street, i never wanted to intrude in their lives, but today i wanted to get out of my comfort zone, so i went out just for that.

My opinion on this type of street photography, if you are nervous, as i am, is to try and keep a distance from them. Go find some angles from where you do not make them feel uncomfortable and that will make them more natural.

Try and find interesting lines or lights. This will help in your composition and will give the photos a really great mood and look.

For my street photography i use the great 50mm 1.8 lens. It is perfect for maintaining a good distance from your subject and it also gives you enough light for any conditions. It is a must have for every photographer. But if you want something wider, i recommend the 35mm 1.8.

Now i will show you two more shots from the series i made yesterday, also made with the 50mm.
