Yellow hibiscus

in #smartphonephotography9 years ago (edited)

My sister's 'little' hibiscus plant has just started blooming... She bought it from a mall display and at that time it had plenty of buds and one huge bloom. We all thought it was one of those where once you bring it home... that would be the last of the blooms!

We were kinda right.... after awhile, all the buds started falling off... one... by one... It was kinda sad. My sis wanted a yellow hibiscus for so long and to think after finding one, it might just not flower...

Last week, one flower bloomed... large... very large. Then some buds grew larger and larger, then one by one started blooming... large, a little ridiculously large, or humongous even for such a small plant!

So, I went over today and took some shots! Actually 'some' is understating it... I took a lot of shots! Then I found out that the theme for #smartphonephotography this week was plants/flowers.

So, here, they are... Not to overwhelm you, I'm posting 3 photographs in varying stages of... errr... 'intimacy'!

Thank you very much, Woody! :)

Beautiful flower. Thanks for sharing.

Ohhh myyy... I think I will ditch all my bulbs and get myself a hibiscus. Those flowers are just so so pretty! :D
Norman says you can make tea out of it ;)

Hehehe... noooo... You have too many pretty flowers to get rid of! But you can add a hibiscus or two.. ;) Choose either red, yellow, white, pink or peach; I think there's a black too! Coloured centres or all-one-colour... Single layer or multi-layer or multi-petals!!! :D :D

Ohhh yes, there's hibiscus teas of course! :)

I am running out of space :( To out big hibiscus I would have to make a room in my big pot... I need bigger balconyyyyyy

Haha, I am known by my initials, A.C. :))

😠 but, you know my name (Jerry) so what does A C stand for? ha ha... "Alpha Cuckoo"? 😜

Lol... It's my Chinese name: Ai Chien :) I use A.C. as many can't pronounce it properly...

I Love the clarity of your pictures. do you use a special lens or just the phone camera? I need to practice more with mine, and would like to get a quality camera soon.
My first #smartphonephotography attempt is Here, also of a hibiscus flower :-)
Looking forward to more of your posts.
Cheers

Hi @codypanama! No special lens, just my phone camera :)
Will drop by yours soon...
Thank you very much for dropping by mine...

Time for me to look up the phone camera instructions then :-)
Thanks

Hehehe... steady hands help... ;)

that's a very key point, sometimes I moved and sometimes the subject, like a flower in the breeze :-)
I was playing with the settings today, trying them all on 1 object and comparing them. I found the B&W setting too...Yah hehe
Little by little I'll get there.

You definitely will.... Practice makes perfect! :)
