Music Today Issue #4 | A SMA Community Initiative

In this 4th issue of Music Today, we discover and highlight five (5) extraordinary music posts from all over the Steemit community.

Music Today is a SMA Community Initiative aimed at making sure the time and effort Steemians passionate about music are recognized, rewarded, and given the feedback they deserve.

What is the Steem Music Alliance? (SMA)

The Steem Music Alliance (SMA) is a community-based network platform that connects musical creatives, as well as, music lovers. We offer the opportunity for people to engage, collaborate, and grow.

We are a dynamic, collaborative group of over 500+ members with the goal to help each other in the pursuit of reaching our potential and dreams.

Our curators scoured the #music, #sma , and other music-related tags to find some incredible music-related content to showcase and highlight to the community.

All of these posts below were voted on by the @smacommunity trail which is comprised of souls who care about music and music-related content here on Steemit.

Requiem For Silence | by: @jeffleinwand

Jeff is a Berlin based multi-instrumentalist and a producer that IMHO has a great eye for arrangements and experienced ears for audio quality. In this track he truly shows the maturity he has as a musician. This arrangement is packed with samples that are pulled from various sources like vinyl and cd's and were brought immaculately to a similar frequency range so they can fit together and have great dynamics in the master.

This beautiful trip-hop/downtempo track has a fusion setting, it has a constant movement and gives a listener a journey between two stories. Carried by the amazing ambiance and perfect lead synth selections, combined with some awesome guitar and bass riffs, it propels this tracks way out of the current Steemit standards. Raising the bar for the platforms music scene. To add a possible major influences, it partially reminded me on the album from 2001 10 000 Hz Legend by the french duo Air

Love Me Like You Do (Ellie Goulding) | by: @etemi

E.T.E.M.I (Esther Temiwumi) is a singer from Warri, Nigeria. I came across this beautiful individual several times on the OpenMic, she truly packs some serious vocal talent. The range and color of her voice remind me on the likes of Estelle and Lianne LaHavas It would be amazing to hear her with the direct input, to truly hear all of the dynamics she has to offer. This Ellie Goulding cover is the best performance I heard from her so far, I can see her growing more and more by each post she makes, and I really hope that one day she gets recruited by a serious label if that chance comes her way.

Minnow Support Lullaby | Collaboration by: @silentscreamer and @beyonder

Coming from Split, Croatia @silentscreamer (Marica Vilibiæ) is what you would call a true academic, with a variety of rewards and recognition she had on her way, her path amazingly brought her on this platform. With this track she made a lot of noise in the trending page, in a mere hours after the upload she was struck with 200 SBD of votes from all over the place. Singing of the very popular subject originating from this platform itself #minnowsupport in collaboration with Vladimir Kuznetsov she raised this to the sky with some powerful, deep, emotional and feel-good vibes.

@beyonder (Vladimir Kuznetsov) behind the production part of the project, outdone himself. Creating such a powerful soundtrack driven instrumentals, packed with celestial layers that orchestrate tremendously with Marica's vocals. The whole production from audio to video in my opinion makes this the most professional media presentation on the platform. There is something really special about this track, when you hear it you feel the love and work invested in it.

I Believe | by: Nu Soul Family (@paulobassman)

@paulobassman comes from Lisbon, Portugal and is a bass player in the band Nu Soul Family, the band he joined on 2009. They appeared in some of the major events in Portugal and also won a MTV reward. The short brief that quickly says a lot about the bands professionality. It is amazing that we started to get bands on this level and their inside stories and feature presentations. This track oozes with retro funk layers, talk box vocals and the crystal clear synths that transports the listener back to the 70's but at the same time giving that modern production values and fusion. Bringing video and audio production of this value to Steemit is surely raising the bar for the #music on the platform.

Paul (Big Thief Cover) | by: @aldona

This mellow cover by @aldona is a treat to your ears, just with the tremolo guitar and some back vocals in the distance she created such a great ambiance and translated the song as good as would Adrianne Lenker. With a great dosing of reverb she converted it into a psychedelic ballad of sort, and made it in my opinion more interesting that way. This is the first time I heard of Aldona on the platform, by hearing this surely I will pay more attention to her in the future, the tone of her voice somehow transports me to a Slowdive kind of setting even though it is not a shoegazing song. I truly enjoyed the color and clarity of her voice.
