Trotting like a Slothicorn!

in #slothicorn6 years ago (edited)

Not even a week ago I joined the Slothicorn movement and I'm proud to announce that I'm smoothly trotting with them. To be honest, it's not even a trot but a wild gallop of ideas, words, images and projects, mindblowing.

I'll be working on the creation of the Slothicorn Alternative Reality Game along with @stellabelle, @justatouchfey, @rubenalexander and many others that will join on the way. I love Slothicorn Game's mission and challenge: empower artists in becoming independent and self-sustained with the use of the blockchain.

What my involvement will be? In my daily work, I'm not hands-on anymore, I usually come up with an idea to pitch, I get some funding to make it real and direct my devs and artists. This time instead, I'll try to be more hands-on on both the user experience, game design and coding.

@justatouchfey will direct the game.

What have I done so far? The project looked quite complicated at first glance, so many great ideas so I decided to structure it a bit to be able to start working and create a legacy for others that will join when the game production begins.

Now we have a Trello board, and the game design document is available in a gDrive presentation. Everything is still in progress, but everything will be shared with the community as soon as it's readable.

For now, we can go through the High-Level Flow of Welcome to Slothicorn, in the flowchart below.

We will have several PORTALS, such as QR codes, Statues, @rubenalexander's RPG and potentially many other entities. These portals kickstart the players' onboarding experience driving them to pick a PLATFORM to interact with the game.

At the moment we have three kinds of PLATFORMS where to play the game, that will unfold differently depending on each one has been picked. We'll release more material on the difference in the game by platform soon, stay tuned!

A game has five levels that we are designing with those three learning objectives in mind. In LVL2, players will learn about the BLOCKCHAIN, in LVL3 will jump straight into How to make Creative Common Crypto Art and the last two levels will guide players to make their own Slothicorn!

The whole ecosystem has been designed to scale smoothly: we, as a community, could add new Portals or even more Platforms (What about VR or AR?), and we can design many more levels of the game to explore different Learning Objectives.

That's the first trot of an infinite movement!

Cool ideas. I’m not sure exactly what it means to make a slothicorn yet, but I like seeing the flowchart and behind the scenes development.

Hey @dandelion, Slothicorn is pure magic! Check out this post https://steemit.com/slothicorn/@justatouchfey/what-is-slothicorn

Fantastic. Helps everyone understand in a clear way. Good work!

Thank you, Slothy!

Very interesting overview.

I myself am partial to the QR code entryway, especially since an organization at my University, the Dé Libéré boardgame club, created a riddle-based QR-code scavenger hunt back in September !

They had 3 different hunts, each of increasing difficulties and running for the starting week of Uni.

The basic idea was to scan a QR code at their Club stand, then solve the riddle to figure out where the next QR code was.

At the first scan, you choose a username, and each time you scanned you entered it again to register that user as having found the next QR code.

The winners of each of the 3 hunts got a yearly membership and a swag bag with University sponsored content XD (I won the 2nd and 3rd... the 3rd one took me on a 1H30 walk of the entire university grounds hehe. Worth it).

So me and a friend have been coming to the club ever since playing board games for free :)

As for the CC part, one thing I found very interesting while testing AKASHA's beta (kind of like Steemit, except it's still entirely in beta and based on the Ethereum network) is that they have an option, when posting, to set the License under which the content is released.

I think this is excellent, since it allows the user to say that their post is free to reuse, CC, entirely no rights reserved... at will.

That sounds interesting! Why don’t you write a post about it? I’ll check out the CC thing you mentioned.

That's actually a very good idea.

I didn't post much on steemit back then, so I completely forgot to write about it 😅

I'm working on my 3D slothicorn model right now.
Just managed to finish the base template to work from. Now comes all the detail work 😱

Here's what the little horror looks like right now image image

Nice man!!! thankss
