Commission Art | How to make your own chibi/anime avatar (with step by step procedure) | Tips and tricks

Hi guys. So recently I had this little project of giving away free cute avatars for free to my followers as my way of saying thank you for being a part of my steemit experience. However, @ghulammujtaba was generous enough to pay for the avatar and he is the one who offered it to me.

He sent some of his pictures for the reference and started working on it right away. And earlier I have already sent it to him and I am so glad that he liked it.

How to make an avatar

To tell you the truth making an avatar of someone is harder that drawing your own character. Cause the avatar has to look somehow similar to the actual person. But how do you do that if the anime or chibi's basic anatomy is unproportional to an actual face of a real live person.

First thing you have to do is to get familiar with the facial features of the person and try exaggerate the shapes. Look for the best facial feature of the person that will best describe him/her. Like if the person has a big or small eyes, a big nose , a long or short hair .Like, @ghulammujtaba , he is known for his beard and eyeglasses so that is the one that I highlighted on this drawing.

If a person is known to wear caps or sunglasses then you draw them wearing it cause that will be the best way to describe them.

PROCCESS

Let me show you guys the process on how I make the avatars.

So first, I sketched out the avatar on a piece of paper.

Then I will traced the lines next. As you can see. I drew the beard and eyeglasses of @ghulammujtaba because that is the features that he is known for.

Next , I laid down the flat colors. In coloring, try to use the color that is closest to the skin tone of the person.

Then I added the darkest shadows first.

Then I added the midtone colors

EYES

I have made an eye tutorial before so check out his post. I highly suggest to check that out to learn more.

Pick two colors on your color palette. Make sure that one color must be lighter and the other one should be darker.

Next add the shadows on the eyes.

Then add the highlights.

Lastly add the appropriate background or some finishing details to it and you're done.
