"The grave of the Fireflies" - My Studio Ghibli Week - A tribute to Isao Takahata
Greetings and good day to all. Today from the greatest of my fanaticisms I bring you this drawing in homage to a great master of animation, Isao Takahata. Takahata was the genius behind the award-winning film by Studio Ghibli "The grave of the Fireflies", a film set in the Second World War; and the horrors that left in its wake, where the events of the war are shown from the experiences of two children.
Here I show you some pictures of the process
Mr. Takahata was a great friend of the legendary Hayao Miyasaki, the creator of "My Neighbor Totoro" and many other films that marked the world of animation and film in general. Hayao and Isao delighted us with animations that would mark the childhood of many and that today are essential works when you want to talk about quality.
Always under the long shadow of Hayao Miyazaki, Takahata never wanted to be the protagonist and accepted that his partner and friend captivated more success and praise. This master of animation found in Studio Ghibli a space in which to express himself and made films that would have been impossible anywhere else.
Unfortunately, on April 5 Takahata died at the age of 82, leaving the world leaving a precious and unforgettable legacy that will transcend for generations. Definitely your departure can be overwhelming but we can count on you being in a better place now.
I would like to dedicate a set of drawings to Studio Ghibli, starting with this one: Setsuko from the movie "The Tomb of the Fireflies" as a tribute to the trajectory of Isao Takahata. In your memory and in your honor, Adiós Isao, may you rest in peace.
