Strongly Suspected To Be A Sign Of Heart Disease When It Leads To Symptoms

in #sleep6 months ago
Snoring is a hoarse or loud sound from the nose or mouth that occurs when breathing is partially obstructed during sleep. Snoring is strongly suspected to be a sign of heart disease when it leads to symptoms of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). This sleep disorder occurs when there is a problem with the respiratory system. One of the indications of OSA in someone is that they usually snore while sleeping. Snoring is caused by blocked or narrowed airways. This narrowing causes vibrations in the respiratory tract during sleep, causing the sound of snoring. The more obstructed the respiratory tract, the louder the snoring sound. In addition, snoring can be caused by things other than illness. Examples include nasal congestion, variations in the anatomy of the nose and soft palate, or alcohol consumption. Various studies say that people who snore due to sleep apnea are more likely to experience sleep disturbances or insomnia and complaints of headaches. This is due to poor sleep quality due to snoring and the reduced amount of oxygen in the body. This can be treated by applying continuous positive airway pressure or wearing a CPAP device to keep the airway open during sleep. Consult a sleep medicine specialist to determine whether snoring is sleep apnea or not.
