Razer Introduces World's First Laptop With 3 Screens at CES!

Gaming Setups with multiple screens are very common, as they offer the user a more realistic gaming experience and simply more space to display what's going on in the game.
But these setups will feature multiple standalone screens, that are not portable.

Razer, one of the leading companies that produces gaming computers and -gear, wanted to change that! At this year's CES in Las Vegas, they have shown off a concept laptop with 3 screens!

It offers an almost 180 degree field of vision, and could even handle virtual reality experiences (and make them seem even more real.) It exceeds the requirement for both the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive.

The concept laptop is called Project Valerie, and is based on the Razer Blade Pro, Razer's most advanced gaming laptop. But once you open it up, you can slide out 2 additional screens on either side !

And they are not just any screen - they are 17-inch screens with a 4K IGZO display and 11520 x 216 resolutions.
Also, they make use of Nvidia's G-sync monitor technology to make sure that there's a smooth transition when graphics move along the multiple screens.

As for the technical specifications on the inside, it's almost the same as the regular Razer Blade Pro - it offers 32 GB RAM, a GTX 1080 and a vapor-chamber cooling mechanism.
Now of course, these two additional screens also come with a downside - the laptop weighs 11 pounds and is almost 1.5 inches thick.
And since the Razer Blade Pro already starts at $3,700 , a device like Project Valerie could easily have a price of around $6,000 .
But then again, this is only a concept laptop and not really available in stores.

Although this is only a concept model, it still shows that there is a possibility to make multi-screen computers portable. It will be exciting to see if a product like this will actually be available on the market in the future!

Would you buy a triple-screen laptop ?!

FYI, we see several authors writing great tech pieces, but can't publish them all or we'd end up being a tech publication, mostly because of the lack of good quality world-news articles.. But we'll grab as many as we can.

Thank you, steemnews!

What a step forward toward multi-player giant screens and a full 360 degrees environment. This is great technology and a very good post, once again. Thanks a bunch for sharing this info with us and namaste :)

Thank you! I also think this is a great step in the right direction and I'm excited to see if there will actually be multi-screen laptops for sale in the future - at least razer has shown that it's possible, so maybe some other companies will get inspired as well!

I saw it at CES... Looked pretty nice!

Would I buy one? Well, not on my present budget, and not for $6K... :0

You attended CES? Awesome, I wish I would've been there too, looks like so many new tech gadgets were launched. And you're right, 6k is way too much for a laptop (which isn't really that portable with 11 pounds either)

Hey, thanks for responding, @sirwinchester. :)

I of course was only able to see a tiny fraction of the show in two days, but it is always a blast... If you're wondering about any specifics, if I happened to run across them I'd be happy to answer any question you may have?

My photos of Valerie didn't come out very good - they're out of focus, probably because it was in a glass case. I wasn't going to post them in my CES articles, but here they are FYI and for readers of your article about Valerie, FWIW. ;)

I was using a phone camera, and couldn't easily tweak the focus on the spot.

The concept looked great in person, but of course I couldn't touch it in its glass case. IMHO, the future is in the immersive virtual displays... I hope to write an article about some that I saw at CES... Meanwhile, here's a link to my first CES article:

CES 2017 Opened Today; Here's A Few Cool Things I Saw

So, maybe you'll get to CES next year? ;) Maybe I'll get to SteemFest next year! That would be my wish. ;)

Maybe I'll go next year, we'll see! And yes that's right, steemfest 2017 will be amazing too!

What a pity that they only showed Valerie in a glass container, but still, very interesting and I'm sure you had lots of fun at CES.

Wow, I would like one of this laptop! It's just amazing. I think when they will start to sell it will be a crazy time in markets.

It's so different from all other gaming laptops, and offers so many more possibilities! I'd like to test it out myself as well.

This looks awesome, imagine a VR rollercoaster ride on 3 screens!!

It would be perfect for that!

Radical design

i saw this in another and I was wondering why not 4 screens, i.e., + another one that flips up. It adds a bit of weight but it 3 screens is technically feasible, one more flip up is not a technological challenge.

I think they are just experimenting with portable gaming stuff!

looks great @sirwinchester thank you for this article, wish all the gamers keep in mind that real life is and will always be in contact with nature and people, that is fine if you love gaming, but keep the balance, and don't forget take a walk.........on the wild side.....:-)

............tut tut tut tut ........
