Do you know that many famous novelists actually started their literary careers as a short story writers? Some of them even continued to regularly publish short fiction - either between or simultaneously with publishing their novels.
Generally speaking, short fiction story usually ranges between 1000 and 7500 words and can be read in one sitting.
Avid readers love reading short stories as a welcome break from heavy, serious or just long literature. Also, short piece of prose is a great fun when you don’t have a book at hand, as you can read it online from your mobile device or just print it out, toss it in a pocket or bag and read it over lunch break.
