I would like to get your Opinion/Input...
Several weeks ago, I visited my mom and we went shopping. Don't worry, I will not bore you with details of our trip. Anyway, going back to my story... We encountered a dilemma that day. My mom is a young 70+ year old but apparently she is getting a bit forgetful.
She went to the restroom at one of Ross Department stores and accidentally left her iPhone. She didn't realize that until we were in another store. We went back and asked around. We were informed that no one returned anything. My mom was so disappointed.
Sadly, we went home. Then we discovered that we can locate her iPhone via her IPad using the "Find my iPhone app". My first instinct was to go to the place and demand for it to be returned but after a few minutes of pondering the action I decided it wasn't a wise idea to confront the perpetrator. We, instead, decided to involve the police.
Mr. Police went to the Ross store and was informed, when he asked to see their surveillance tapes, that there wasn't anything pointing towards the desired location. When we heard this, we then showed him the GPS location of the iPhone. He took a picture of it and initiated an investigation process.
A couple of weeks past, he called to inform us that the search was unsuccessful.
My question is... what is the use of having a GPS locator for a phone if you have no rights to search and get your phone back?...
What would you have done if you were the one in this position?...
