Shadow Photo Contest-Round 58- Animal Shadows

These are city deer and they're not scared of you...

but they don't like your dog much! They understand traffic lights, I'm not kidding! There was a half page picture in the local newspaper of this little family of deer calmly waiting for the lights to change before using the crosswalk at a busy intersection one block from here.

I have better pictures of them below, but unfortunately there aren't any decent shadows in any of them. So these almost-tame deer are Columbian Black-tailed deer ((Odocoileus hemionug columbianus) if you want to get fancy. They're a somewhat smaller version of the Western Mule Deer.

And below, this may be Papa but we'll never know. Papa never hangs around much... but he is a big fan of the Temptations!

Papa was a rolling stone
Wherever he laid his hat was his home
And when he died, all he left us was alone...
