THE TAJ MAHAL -- SEVEN WONDERS OF THE WORLD.
The Taj Mahal in Agra, India is one of the seven wonders of world. The Taj Mahal means the crown of the palace which is situated on the southern bank of the Yamuna River in the Indian city viz. Agra. The Taj Mahal is a ivory-white marble mausoleum. 
It was made or commissioned in 1632 by the Mughal King Shah Jahan. He reigned from 1628 to 1658. The Mughal Emperor made the Taj Mahal to house the tomb of his favourite wife, Mumtaz Mahal. The tomb is 17 hectare complex as a centre-piece having a mosque along with a guest house with formal gardens ; it is bounded by a crenellated wall at its three sides.
It took 10 years to construct the Taj Mahal from the year 1643 to 1653. Its cost will be approximately 52.8 billion rupees or US $ 827 million. About 20,000 artisans had been employed for the construction of the Taj Mahal under the guidance of a board of architects led by the court architect of the emperor, Ustad Ahmad Lahauri.
The Taj Mahal is described by the Nobel laureate on Rabindranath Tagore as “ the tear-drop on the cheek of time “. It is the symbol of India’s rich history. The Taj Mahal attracts millions of visitors and tourists every year.
The Mughal emperor Shah Jahan built the Taj Mahal as the love and memory of his wife Mumtaz Mahal who was a Persian princess who expired after giving birth to their 14th child named Gauhara Begum. Due to the death of Mumtaz Mahal, the Taj Mahal was illustrated as an inspiration and love story of Shah Jahan for the queen Mumtaz Mahal.
