Anonymus, Komm heiliger Geist, Herre GottsteemCreated with Sketch.

in #secretsoforganplaying5 years ago (edited)

This is my entry for the Secrets of Organ playing contest, week 22. No errors in the announcement in the video this time... :-)

I took this composition from the second fascicle of manuscript Mus. Ms. 30439 owned by the Staatsbibliothek zu Berlin. The second fascicle contains 16 chorale preludes of unnamed composers. Four of these are from others sources known to be composed by Johann Pachelbel and three of them by Johann Michael Bach. But the composer of the other 9 remain unknown.

This composition is a beautiful choral prelude on the melody of Komm heiliger Geist, Herre Gott". The composer is alas not named in the manuscript. If I were to guess I'd say it was composed by Johann Michal Bach.

he recording was done on the sample set of the Müller-organ in the Sint Bavokerk in Haarlem by Voxus Organs for Hauptwerk.

All 16 composistions are available on my website: http://partitura.org/index.php/choral-preludes-from-mus-ms-30439/

Sort:

Great to see another angle! Sounds like you have blower noise too with Hauptwerk 😉

What you hear could also be the fan of my computer. It's a bit loud sometimes. I don't mind too much as it is easy to imagine it's the wind of the organ.

I have never played at Sint Bavokerk but I did play in Alkmaar Sint Laurenskerk. Your performance is very calm and refreshing. The pieces you record each week seem to get longer every week. Your skills are certainly developing to the level that you soon will be able to sight-read something like that on the spot. That would surely save you much time. By the way , have you tried submitting your pieces to Musicoin and Choon to get extra crypto revenue from them?

Yes, I'm pushing myself. Next week I'll try a complete prelude and fugue. We'll see whether that idea is doable or for now still too ambitious...

I do cross post my recordings on musicoin as well. Choon is new to me. Going to check it out. Thanks for the tip.

Choon currency is Notes which are not yet tradable so it doesn't have value at the moment. But they seem to have an interesting idea...
