Secrets of Organ Playing Weekly Contest, Week 48--Wayne Wold's Wachet Auf Suite, II. Zion hears the watchmen crying...

This is the submission for Week 48 of the Secrets of Organ Playing Weekly Contest. I am playing Wayne Wold's second movement to his Wachet Auf Suite. In all three movements, the chorale tune is used as the basis for the larger scale form producing an AAB formal structure. Over a simple walking bass line, the first section of the chorale tune is presented. The second section of the chorale tune is then heard, but this time with a countermelody played on the same manual. The B section is very similar to the second A section. At the end of the movement, the coda is an extension of the final phrase of the piece before quieting down into the final chords. Wayne Wold is currently the Chair of the Department of Music at Hood College in Frederick, Maryland, USA.
