I am guessing it is to keep the buying out of sight. Regardless, it is from the Steem pool it is coming, and that means that it is up to the community f staked users to decide whether to let it stand or redirect it.

SCT alone made more than 1 million steem BUY and staked. That looks like a huge steem demand to me.
To the individual yes, for the future of the ecosystem not necessarily, especially if it is used to undermine the value of Steem.
