Would anyone be interested in a screenwriting workshop?

"Screenwriting Workshop?"

There are so many brilliant MSP workshops... fiction, poetry, esl... but the start of what will be 16 weeks of screenwriting courses where I'm meant to write a feature length screenplay has highlighted a missing workshop... a screenwriting workshop.

Sure, it's fiction and could conceivably be looked at in the fiction workshop for things like plot and character consistency... but there's formatting and a certain style of rhetoric involved with which fiction authors and editors may not be familiar. In short, many of the editors in the fiction workshop -- by their own admission -- may not be able to offer the same level of critique on a screenplay as they could for a novel.

But alas, a workshop needs participants. I've only met two screenwriters on steemit thus far and, whilst that's a great start, I'd love to know if there are more out there (gotta be, right?). If so, would you be interested in joining a MSP-based Screenwriting Workshop? Reply in the comments if you like the idea, or you can also find me at the MSP Fiction Workshop. If enough people are interested, we can make it happen!

Thanks for reading!

I'm interested in all the things, especially when related to writing. Time is my issue. I'm interested though!

I feel you on time. If it weren't for the courses, I'd still be focused on Chance Way and Wing Arena.

how are the screenwriters doing, :) gave you a follow, I'm trying to find some 3D people too :D keep me posted on the updates :) msg if you'd like to link up someplace :D

will be giving the discord a peak, won't participate, so still keep me posted :D

Well, @andrewgenaille just told me about this... so I'm guessing they're out there. I'll definitely let everyone know if we can get this workshop up and running. ^_^

Who's the third screenwriter?

I'm very curious to see if there's any others around here. I've been tracking filmmakers in general but they don't seem to be multiplying either.

From what I hear, @lenadr

It would be amazing if there were more of us lurking about! ^_^

That would be cool. I once tried to write a screenplay about Yakuza getting lost at the Gold Coast in Australia. It wasn't good... so I'd say a workshop may be in order (but not for that script...that thing found a permanent home in a circular filing cabinet).

"a circular filing cabinet" lol, nice one
It's an interesting premise though... especially if it's a comedy.

That's a good idea! I might watch, at first. 😃

I wrote a terrible screenplay once..lol.. well only one screen was any good. I will check and see if my husband would be interested. I am trying to learn so many things due to Steemit and all my interests. I think you are on to something here although it may be like herding cats to get everyone together..
I keep forgetting to wait 20 minutes to vote.. oh well .it is done.

Herding cats is fun! ^_^ I say that in jest... but I think a part of me really feels that way... curious...

Fortunately, the currently existing workshops are setting fantastic examples. We wouldn't have to build from scratch, just copy their models where applicable.

My hubby @nowian.man says he is interested and I will look at it as a maybe for me. @pegasusphysics For meeting other cool cats would be cool.

Hey, hanging out is perfectly acceptable. We have people who hang out in the fiction workshop solely for access to fresh fiction (and we love them for it!). In fact, the only people not welcome are spammers and trolls. ^_^
