FLAT EARTH?!?!
I'm just wondering how much of the Steemit community are flat earthers? I battled the flat earth society on instagram forever, but it's impossible to change their minds because they're stuck on the "fact" that we've been lied to since the beginning. I'm not going to battle anyone who is looking for an argument, but if you're one of the ones who is on the fence, ask yourself a few questions and watch the attached video. A. What would all the people who have been lying to us supposedly for all these years get out of it?! Nothing! There's no reason at all. B. Would Elon Musk and Amazon CEO's....some of the smartest people in the world, really be spending billions of dollars on space exploration, if the earth was flat?! No...no they wouldn't. Ridiculous. Watch this video of Joe Rogan and Neil DeFrasse Tyson. Why anyone wants to think Neil DeGrasse Tyson is in on the conspiracy and/or doesnt know his ####, is beyond me. Oh, and happy Saturday!! 😆
I didn't realise there were so many "flat earthers" either until they started commenting on the YouTube videos I'd made of planets, stars and the ISS.
I have all the proof I need that the Earth is a globe in these two facts that anyone can observe...
a) The sun looks the same size at both midday and sunset
b) The south celestial pole exists
Right? It blows me away.
Not only that, but their 'model' is of an Azimuthal Projection Map. It doesn't get any worse for them when the BEST map the BEST minds have produced in thousands of years of thought has been.... a map of a globe!
Come back to me with your 'theory' when you can produce a map with correct distances between points and correct country sizes. Oh, they'll then tell you something ridiculous like that they don't 'accept' the established distances on earth.

I am not a flat earther but had a geography teacher who was.We used to try and convince him every lesson that the earth was not flat.He was part of the flat earth society but has since passed away.He made learning geography fun.

Logical fallacy. Not any evidence of flat earth provided, nor an argument for flat earth. The promulgation of incorrect information can be done just as easily as the promulgation of correct information. But just like the majority of flat earthers, you propose an argument that strokes the ego of people that they are 'intelligent' and have discovered something that 99% of the population have not discovered, and it makes them feel good that they can be so smart without having to do any science, math, or research themselves. They can just watch some YouTube videos and find out more than all of the scientists in the past 2000 years did!
It's a very alluring fallacy, for sure.
The reason it's becoming a 'thing' is because of a charasmatic leader giving good-sounding arguments and ego stroking to people unwilling or unable to do actual research themselves.
Case in point are the videos on YouTube about a flight from Asia making an Emergency landing in Alaska. The people promulgating these videos don't even use a globe to prove how the emergency landing on a globe would be perfectly natural.
Instead, they make a good sounding argument that most people are too dumb to see through, and certainly will not fact check themselves. But arguments like these are nonsense, ad hoc, and are incorrect at best and intentionally deceptive at worst.

Not a flat earther, really I am waiting to hop on a spaceship in the near future and see for myself it's okay to have theory's but me myself am a rationalist and when ever possible like to see evidence whether it's sending a probe up there or paying a third party I just want to see what all the fuss is about with my own two eyes. 👀

ZERO real Flat Earthers have anything to do with the Flat Earth "society". They are a total joke. Neil DeGrasse Tyson is a hypnotist who pushes FAKE SCIENCE to convince people of the globe deception. Nobody has ever gone to space and there is no direct observable actual evidence of earth curvature. SpaceX launches and lands fancy blimps that go only to medium-high altitude. It's the biggest deception of all time, and it keeps working because people fall for the magic trick. If you think I'm joking you haven't seriously looked into it with an open mind, you're likely just finding evidence that confirms your bias.
