Messier 63: The Sunflower Galaxy
Sunflowers galaxy! The original disc of this spiral galaxy in the constellation Canes Venatici contains many more numerical spiral arms. This galaxy is a member of the galaxy cluster M51 Group, the name of the brightest galaxy in this group is called Whirlpool Galaxy or M51.
This galaxy, known as Sunflower Galaxy or Messier 63, M63 or NGC 5055, was discovered by astronomer Pierre Méchain on June 14, 1779. Charles Messier included this galaxy on his Messier catalog, named M63. In the nineteenth century, astronomer Lord Rosse named the Sunflower Galaxy after receiving ideas about the shape of the galaxy. In 1971, this galaxy was a Supernova with a magnitude of 11.8. The galaxy diameter of approximately 37 million light-years from Earth is about 50000 light years.
