You are the center of the universe… Confirmed by Stephen Hawking / Evrenin merkezi sensin
It is unbelievable that Stephen Hawking has passed away. I am still struggling to fathom his death. I wasn’t aware of that, but come to think of it, I might have seen him as an immortal robot. Silly me.
Yet, he did his best to turn me into a genius.
And at one point, I almost believed it could be possible. Because he told me so:
We all have questions. Big questions…
I believe that anyone can answer big questions for themselves because we can all think like a genius.
If a genius says it is possible, who am I to object?
Just, you know, it was the slogan of the documentary series Genius by Stephen Hawking and this claim might be stretching it a bit.
But then he told me one other thing in the documentary. Something really cool. Something that really made me feel special.
“You are the center of the Universe,” he said.
This time I believe him, not almost but thoroughly.
Where did the Universe come from?
Where did it all begin?
These are the questions asked in the fourth episode of Genius by Stephen Hawking.
When I heard these questions, I thought it would again rub the fact that how small we are in the universe. Nowadays, when someone says “universe”, I automatically interpret it as a reference to our insignificance.
Yeah, we got it. We are itsy-bitsy, teeny-tiny creatures on a little bitty speck revolving around the Sun which itself is insignificant among 100-400 billion stars in the Milky Way. And Milky Way is just one of the more than 100 billion galaxies in the observable Universe.
We are not even a needle in the haystack!
Even Stephen Hawking could not do anything about it.
Or could he?
He did.
Space did not exist before the Big Bang. Now space is expanding in all directions. And these simple facts mean wherever you are in the Universe, it is the center, where it all began.
Everywhere is the center of the Universe because it all came to existence at the same time.
I am the center of the Universe.
You are the center of the Universe.
It all began right under our nose.

Koca evrende ne kadar küçük olduğumuzu duymaktan sıkılmadınız mı? Ne kadar önemsiz olduğumuzu. Stephen Hawking bize kendimizi biricik değilse de en azından özel hissettirmeyi başarırdı.
Öldüğüne hâlâ inanamıyorum. Farkında bile olmadan onu ölümsüz bir robot olarak düşünüyorsam demek.

Eh, bir dâhi bunun mümkün olduğunu söylüyorsa, ben kimim ki itiraz edeceğim, değil mi? Tek sorun bunun belgesel dizisi Stephen Hawking’le Deha’nın sloganı olması. Yani bir parça abartılmış olması mümkün.

Tamam, anladık. Gözlemleyebildiğimiz uzaydaki en aşağı 100 milyar galaksiden biri olan Samanyolu Galaksisi’nde, Sarı Cüce lakaplı önemsiz bir yıldız olan Güneş’in etrafında dönen minicik bir noktanın üzerinde yaşayan mini minnacık yaratıklarız.
Samanlıkta iğne bile değiliz.
Stephen Hawking bile evrendeki bu önemsiz konumumuz hakkında bir şey yapamaz.
Yoksa yapabilir mi?
Yaptı.
Büyük Patlama’dan önce uzay yoktu. Şimdi uzay her yöne doğru genişliyor. Bu basit gerçekler, evrende her neredeyseniz evrenin merkezinin, her şeyin başladığı yerin orası olduğunu gösteriyor.
Her yer evrenin merkezi çünkü her yer aynı anda var oldu.
