The Eclipse and the Virgin of the Apocalypse

in #science7 years ago

Unless you have been living under a rock, you know that there is a Solar Eclipse happening over the North America continent on August 21, 2017. That's next Monday!

solar-eclipse.jpg

The significance of this solar eclipse is that it has been almost 100 years since the last time the USA has had an eclipse cover so many states. The solar eclipse of June 8, 1918 went from Washington state to Florida, which is close to the path that this eclipse will be taking. The last time an eclipse went through the continental USA was back in February 26, 1979. Basically, for most people living in the USA, this is probably the best opportunity to see a solar elipse until August 24, 2045. Of course, anyone who will be around for the September 14, 2099, might get to see the end of our civilization as well. Calling it The Great American Eclipse is appropriate, but as you can see, solar eclipses do happen on a regular basis, if you count time by generations.

Eclipses have an interesting lore around them.

“The birds flew about in evident distress and terror, the domestic fowls ran about in all directions cackling as in a fright,” Thomas wrote. “Horses galloped around their pastures neighing; while the horned cattle which seemed more affected than the rest, tore up the earth with their horns and feet in madness — all this uproar was followed by the silence of midnight.” ~ https://www.ohio.com/akron/lifestyle/local-history-solar-eclipse-was-deadly-prophecy-in-1806

The above quote was a description of the 1806 eclipse as it passed over Rhode Island. What made the lore about this eclipse special was, a woman of the Wyandot American Indians had made a prediction that the sky would go dark soon. Fearing that she was a witch, they dragged her down to a river and hung her from a tree that leaned over the river. When the eclipse did happen, the people involved feared that retribution was about to come for their bad deed.

There are modern superstition and myths that eclipses are bad for pregnant women and the babies that they are caring. In India, they believe food cooked during an eclipse will become poisonous. But, scientists will tell you that there is nothing to worry about when the bear bites the sun, the sun is caught by the sky wolves, if the great frog eats the sun, the mouth of heaven swallows the sun, or Rahu tries to taste immortality and spends eternity chasing the sun and moon in an attempt to swallow them.

On the other side, there is a belief that when an eclipse happens, it is a time when people fighting should come together and reconcile issues and work on peace. This goes back to the Battle of the Eclipse in 585 BC. But, unfortunately, the eclipse isn't going through Virginia or DC, so that's not going to happen.

And finally, there are some who think that the great eclipse might signal something larger to come.

40 days and 40 nights

Mentioning 146 times in Scripture, the number 40 generally symbolizes a period of testing, trial or probation. ~ http://www.biblestudy.org/bibleref/meaning-of-numbers-in-bible/40.html

When you see 40 days and 40 nights mentioned in the Bible, a person usually understands that it doesn't necessarily mean exactly 40 days and 40 nights. The time period usually means a long time and in that time, it is a period of testing, trial or probation. Just like 40 years means a generation of man. Not necessarily the age of a generation, like how we get Gen X, Millennials, Baby Boomers, etc... But a period from which one generation that did something or believed in something, is no longer around before the next generation who is without knowledge of that thought or action, is born. Not specific time periods, but a symbolic meaning of a time period.

If you count past August 21st for 40 days, you end up at September 30th and Yom Kippur. Yom Kippur is the last day of the Jewish New Year. The first day, which begins at sunset, of the Jewish New Year begins with Rosh Hashanah on September 20th. Interestingly enough, the Hindu religious new year. It is also the Islam religious new year, which isn't too surprising, based off its history.

So, maybe in this case, we can look at the 40 days and 40 nights as literally 40 days and 40 nights of a trail period. Then we should wonder, what might happen during that time period. Why did religious groups pick the middle of September to start their religious year? What is special about this time.

The Event

Back in 2015, there was a lot of mumbling and rumors on the Internet around an activity going on during September. There was Jade Helm and the 50th Year of Jubilee. There were all sorts of predictions going on for this time period. It was supposedly also a time of great influence, meaning that if you wanted to convince people of something, there was a good chance that you could do this.

I called this period The Event and made a Storify with all of the things going on at that time.

I didn't do one for last year, but maybe I should have. It looks like 2017 has a few interesting things going on, so I will try to provide more updates on #TheEvent in the next few weeks.

The Virgin of the Apocolypse

The main happening for this year's The Event is the Revelation 12 Sign. If you are unfamiliar with the last book of the Bible, The Revelation of John, it is either a play-by-play of the end of the world or a commentary on the state of the Roman Empire during the time that Christians and Jews were being persecuted. If you want to make a doomsday prophecy, having it line up with something in Revelation is a sure fire way to get people to pay attention.

The verses in focus are the beginning of Revelation 12.

Revelation 12: 1-2 - The Woman and the Dragon ~ King James Version

12 And there appeared a great wonder in heaven; a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars:
2 And she being with child cried, travailing in birth, and pained to be delivered.

Revelation 12: 1-2 - The Woman and the Dragon ~ English Standard Version

12 And a great sign appeared in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars. 2 She was pregnant and was crying out in birth pains and the agony of giving birth.

But, what you should do is read the entire Revelation 12. Because this sign is also the start of the Apocalypse. The final battle between heaven and hell and the destruction of man-kind.

17 Then the dragon was enraged at the woman and went off to wage war against the rest of her offspring—those who keep God’s commands and hold fast their testimony about Jesus.

Why do people think that they'll see the sign on September 23, 2017? On that date, the constellation Virgo will have the constellation Leo above her head. This will create a crown. And joining the constellation stars will be Mercury, Mars, Venus making it a crown of 12 stars. On September 23, it will appear that the moon is at the feat of Virgo and the sun will provide a cloak (cloaks being worn over the shoulder) of light. And Jupiter has been taking a retrograde path that sees it going through the constellation Virgo as a representation of her womb.

To top that off, back in 2016, the Borisov comet, C/2017 E1, passed through Leo and then through Virgo and coincided with Jupiter's movement and around November 17, 2016, "inseminated" the planet or if you can imagine it, the womb of Virgo. The comet itself wasn't discovered until March 1, 2017. You know, when when usually begin to show that they are pregnant. They expect "the child" to be born on September 9, 2017.

Want to know what happens on September 9th?
A Near Earth Object, asteroid 2015 FO124, with a size of 160 m - 360 m passes the Earth at 0.07030 astronomical unit (AU). The moon is 0.00257 AU from the Earth, so no real worries with this asteroid. But, hey, there it is.

Want to know what MIGHT happen the day before September 23?
The Feast of Trumpets. Hmmmm.... trumpets. What do trumpets signify in religion?
I say might, because it could either be the 21st or 22nd. Anyway, it is only told that the day should be remembered. It is celebrated as a memorial day. As to what, it isn't quite know what happened on that day that it should be remembered.

The Feast of Trumpets ~ English Standard Version
23 And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 24 “Speak to the people of Israel, saying, In the seventh month, on the first day of the month, you shall observe a day of solemn rest, a memorial proclaimed with blast of trumpets, a holy convocation. 25 You shall not do any ordinary work, and you shall present a food offering to the Lord.”

Well, here is your glimpse into The Event for 2017.
No one knows the hour or the day, but you can look for the signs.

I really liked this post @deanlogic Interesting times already seem to be well underway with strange Trumpeting already :/ Hope whatever changes are coming up there or down here... are for the best. Cheers @ecoknowme

Looks like he covered the Virgo thing two years ago, but he wouldn't have known about the comet back then.
Thanks for the link. I think I might have watched one or two of those videos.

Good point. I like his info, but it is a pretty heavy time investment. I will be looking for your future posts on this subject. Excellent stuff.

Cant wait to see the eclipse ! great post! thank you for the share

Nice post..Following you for more.👍

Amazing post...
Following you for more.

Dude awesome, love the tie in to scripture. Eclipse of America. Very prophetic in nature. Especially considering the events of the weekend. We're sitting on a powder keg.

Yup. I didn't know about the peace thing for the eclipse until I did this article.

Apparently I put the wrong tags on this, because I would assume it would get more hits.
I'll have to figure out the right tags for my #TheEvent

That was a good read about the battle ending due to eclipse. Let's see what happens.

This was pretty damn interesting content, not sure why it didn't get picked up. Might be time of day, or even that it is a monday. Everyone is a little off on mondays. Maybe it's just that some of these dudes have 2,000+ followers.

Yeah...everyone is happy to see some guy with millions of YouTube followers just verified himself. Everybody else is talking about BitCoin 4000+ and profile headers. sigh

I guess I should have posted it next Monday during the eclipse.

I'm not even sure what the formula is on here. Some things get picked up at peculiar times of the day or even days after. Seems one of the most popular sections is Money, which on here means cryptocurrency info. Funny that many on this platform decry spamming, but isn't everyone slopping out the same information another form of spam? 10,000 posts about bitcoin 4k.

I know.

This afternoon I as looking at the new feed and I could barely find an article worth clicking on.

Ha, so true. I scroll through it sometimes and just quit. Most people just put the link and not even a description or opinion or anything.

I hear you, not that I post terribly intellectual stuff , but it does get annoying the crypto fanaticism and video hawking. Thanks for posting this about the eclipse and Revelations. Prophecy is an interest of mine.

You are welcome.
I think I will revisit The Event from 2015 to catch people up on some other things, before I add the stuff from this year. The Virgin of the Apocalypse is the most exciting thing happening in The Event that I have found.

And, yup, it would be nice if STEEMit wasn't so narrowly focused.

This is pretty damn good and certainly interesting! Followed............

Apparently I live under a rock haha. Good read and I will certainly look out for it when it happens!

I'm glad to be informative.

In addition to the mystical aspects. Solar eclipses give us the unique opportunity to make our own homemade experiments with different perforated or micro - perforated materials to see the eclipse indirectly. You also have to advise those who are going to see the eclipse to take a jacket since the temperature falls during total eclipses more than 10 degrees Celsius in minutes. Very interesting the perspective that you give to the eclipse.

I always wondered how the Chinese first started looking at the sun. My guess is, someone was hanging up some rice paper to dry and it was just thin enough to block enough of the sun to let another surface see the sunspots and other things.

I forgot to mention the cold. Ooops. Oh, well, that wasn't important to my story. ;)
