MAN'S INDISPENSABLES

in #science7 years ago

What are man's indispensable? Phone, cars, laptop, gadgets, home or food! may be money!

Have you ever had a thought about what serves you the most? Makes you comfortable , attending to your needs day and night. Of course, it's not your gadgets or your house maid.

They are the biggest, largest, oldest, most versatile living things you've ever seen. They are the green lanterns of nature, occurring in a state of splendor serving man in every and any way to his convenience. Apart from man, they also serve other animals. Of all life forms, they are known as the only producers except for few others.

They are called the Plants or should I say the green plants.

Plants serve man in a lot of way,
• Producing one if his greatest needs, oxygen
• Accounting for most of his foods through their seeds, fruits, leaves, modified stems and roots ranging from cereals, grains, legumes, vegetables, to roots and tubers.
• Provision of clothing materials made from plant fibres, dyes and tannings.
• Provision of rubber from plant saps for making clothings, shoes, equipments and tools
• Production of hardwoods and softwoods and sometimes leaves for construction of buildings and structures, furnitures, kitchen equipments and farming tools
• Production of medicines through seeds, leaves, fruits, and root extracts
• Raw materials (seed, fruits and leaves) for brewery and beverage industries
• Source of income and revenue through trading in grains, nuts, plants byproduct such as coal and peat from economic crop plants
• Beautification of man's environment and sustaining nature

Yet, being the basis of almost all our needs, little or no reservation is made available to the indispensables which are needed to be conserved. You cannot risk to imagine what and how we would live without them for they are indispensable.

I'm a microbiology undergraduate at the University and I'm fascinated with learning amazing stuff about life everyday.

Steemit is re-kindling my love for writing and I will be sharing with you amazing stuff I discover everyday at school and over the course of my search for knowledge.

Great, sounds interesting. I see people these days are often giving up drugs and really are sharing and learning how to use natural medicine to solve problems.

Also interesting: How about the very cutting edge ideas on how to use a variety of plants to keep soil in balance. Plants can attract and or repel common pests and maybe attract birds or wildlife to help with fertilizer. It can be complex but there are groups of these things (kind of like a beginners guide) that can serve as a sort of recipe. I just realized today that even though I don't have a garden I do have a friend with one and I'm sure he would be very happy if I helped and especially happy if I helped so he would not have to use any pesticide.

Even crazy stuff could be cool if it has some evidence and is easy to use: structured water, orgonite in the garden around plants and to help with small particle pollution. If it easy it does not matter if it did work out no big deal. But if it does work, wow...

Thanks for the really nice reply.
I think I get it, like crop rotation and biological control.?

I think there is more to it than that.. Some farmers are using companion plants where they are growing several (maybe up to 7) species at the same time while the food crops are growing.

The idea is to not have to "kill" anything (I see this as swimming up stream) .. Instead, figure out how to work with nature to leverage its natural forces.
