They said they Caught me masturbating on my Computer... HELP...
Hey all,
I have to share this important story with you because I don't want anyone else to become the victim of this terrible scam of extortion.
An acquaintance of mine had called me the other day in a big panic. He asked me if I could lend him $600.00 because it was an emergency and his whole life depended on it.
I was very alarmed at this statement and I very worried for his well-being.I asked him if he could come over and explain to me what was going on so I could try and help him. he came over right away and he was visibly shaken and I could see he was trying to hold back his emotions.
After a few minutes he came right out and said "I have been caught masturbating on my computer and they have a video and they said if I don't pay them, then they will send it out to all my contacts, friends and family. they sent this to me from my own email address and asked me to sent them money back in bitcoin and my life will be ruined, please you've got to help me, I could lose everything."
As soon as he told me this I knew that this was a scam because the same thing happened to me a few months ago and I looked into it further and found out that these people are doing this to scare us into giving them money right away. They know people are watching porn and masturbating, so they can easily fool them. when I received this email, I knew they were lying because I don't watch porn and my webcam is broken. If I did watch porn, I would imagine, I would be very concerned like this man was.
I showed him the resources that detail this scam and assured him that he had not been caught. i advised him though to cover up his webcam and secure his computer, so he could feel better about what he is doing in private.
After I reassured him that he was not in any danger, I was so angry that this person on the other end of the scam is doing this to people and terrorizing them and trying to extort them. I mean how about this is a teenager or other vulnerable person, how likely are they to send this monster money?
I just wanted everyone to be aware of this scam, so you are not victimized yourself.
Never be fooled by these scams and hold your ground. They are lying.
