The peninsula is washed in the west by the Sea of ​​Okhotsk, in the northeast - by the Bering Sea and the Pacific Ocean in the southeast. Caldera Uzon in Kamchatka is a unique natural monument and an object of biogeocenosis. There is a rich flora and fauna here, but local lakes are especially impressive. One of them is filled with weak sulfuric acid, around the others mercury and sulfur are emitted. Minerals are formed just before our eyes. The most interesting is that these lakes are inhabited, in sulfuric live bacteria that produce acid, in others live the archaea - one of the oldest forms of life, and thiobacteria.
