The Loose Bunny Caper
Well, there she was; just pleased as punch at her free-roaming ways. As long as Syzygy was able to let herself in and out of her cage at will, she was a happy camper. I was wondering what happened to my newly planted pepper plants.
Yep, my 2nd generation momma bunny, Clover, had a wonderful trio of kits just before October 2017. The girl, Syzzy - for short, has brothers Orville and Star. Some of you astronomer types might get the names, but you can feel free to post for more info.
Syzzy just looked at me like, "What? You didn't expect me to stay in that cage with so much good green goodies out here, did you?"
I approached her gingerly, thinking she might hang around long enough for me to pet her, then . . . uh, not this time.
My code line imagination said error. Thinking: hole in fence, find, FIRST put back Syz.
Not unlike troubleshooting a computer or searching for the exact coding error, my first try at getting the gorgeous girl to put her back in her assigned quarters was not my last.
Deftly diving and dodging my attempts to corner her, this teenage-esque rabbit has speed, agility, and spirit. Rabbits can, and do, go very fast in short spurts. Elusively like coding language fault-finding, I had chased her around every corner of the yard, and back, multiple times. Yes, those dots and commas look quite the same when glancing carelessly through the thick and thin of multiple lines!
After a visit to the brothers, parents, and, even, a new step-dad, bunny Syzygy finally tired enough that I could corner her. Picking her up as gently as I could, and getting scratched by the powerful hind claws in my attempt, she was returned to the correct predetermined habitat. Bug in the system corrected.
Yep, the sisters from different litters had conspired for their freedom, finding fresh soil loose enough to make their own exit. This, like an error in coding, was quite the fault of the (housing and coding) construction artist. Whether by inattention to possible poor output or lack of due diligence, my free roaming bunny and my errant punctuation or symbol garnered much more of my attention than should have been necessary. I spent plenty of time stretching, bending, squatting, and running after the rabbit. Exercise is good, make sure you spend some time yourself (and help your proteges understand the benefit) exercising your coding muscles, as well.
Now, to go check the yard, again. Run program!
