Road to SteemFest 3: After hours

in #roadtosteemfest6 years ago

November is flying up isn't it? It is only a little over a month away until SteemFest begins and I am looking forward to it but, am also a little bit nervous. The prompt this week from @anomadsoul is for after hours, what do I have planned for my free time.

That's me in the middle

I have hardly thought about it to be honest but after chatting with a few people over the weeks, I think I have good reason to be nervous. Although once upon a time I enjoyed a nip here and there, the last years have been much "quieter" and in the last two, I haven't really had a drink at all. Las weekend I drank a cider over the space of 2 hours and was tipsy. A week?! Jeeeez.

Well, the weather is going to play a pretty significant role in what cards are on the table to play and since I am expecting to lose all my chips quickly at poker, I should dress warmly if the forecast is accurate-ish.

The weather forecast for Krakow that week:

Looks pretty cold doesn't it? 10 degrees during the day!! Nah, that is like a coolish Finnish midsummer. The forecast in my city over the same period looks like this.

You have to look at it percentage wise. The weather is going to be around 300% warmer in Krakow than Finland so I am packing mostly beach attire.

I actually don't really know what to expect in the after hours as I don't really know what to expect in the pre-after hours (are they called 'working hours'). What I am hoping though that I will get a chance to have a good chat to some of the more interesting people from around the blockchain. It was great to see that @meno scored a surprise trip courtesy of @followbtcnews which is fantastic but I don't know why I bothered flirting with @crimsonclad all these months on steem.chat... ;)

Of course, I am sure that there will be activities organized by various Steemian groups on some nights and meetups at bars etc so I am not too worried about actually finding somewhere to be. I am not sure if there is a night put aside for a chance to touch @ned's hair but I am keeping fingers and toes crossed there will be.

One thing that does concern me is when I will have time to post because I still plan on putting something up each day without it being nonsense. Since I am taking my camera of course, what I will perhaps do is put some photos from the day and some thoughts about what came up. For those who won't be there this year, you are going to get a bit annoyed at all the SteemFest shill but at least last year, they had live feeds of the presentations and it is worth tuning in for some of them in my opinion. I will try to keep my posts a little lighter that week though.

So for me, the free-time will be spent getting to know people, wandering around Krakow taking pictures and hopefully having a chance to get a little bit of rest. I am unsure how much rest will able to be got considering but it is always good to have dreams. Of course, one thing I will do whenever I have the chance is call home and have a chat with @momone and @smallsteps.

No matter what happens there, it is going to be a long week away from them.

You are wise mate. ¿What else could you do on those hot sunny after hour days for a whole week? ¿Huh?

A real pity that it is actually very difficult for me to attend and meet you there. Because, maybe, I could teach you a few pool tricks. Besides giving you a warm hug in person. };)

Oh! I'm actually glad that @meno won this contest. Because I have the hunch that he could give you the pool lessons that I can not give you. I mean, ¡Just look at the skilled gambler face meno has! I bet he must know one or two tricks on this of his own. ;)

Uh? Ah! ..and that would plainly mean to win the jackpot. But we already know that you are an ambitious chap. And we are sure you're going to succeed on that goal. LoL

Since I am taking my camera of course, what I will perhaps do is put some photos from the day and some thoughts about what came up.

Looking forward to read and watch the entire chronicles through your blog of your well-deserved holidays trip my friend. I just hope you have a lot of fun and you get enough rest those days in Krakow also.

Cheers!! :)

It is funny. I grew up with a pool table in the house as a kid but I haven't played in 25 years I think. Still... nothing like that kind of insanity in the videos.

With all the people wanting a piece of Ned's hair he is going to be bald by the end of the week.

Touching Ned's hair - good one T.

I will see if I can get you a strand if you like ;)

It's not me and I'm already excited, @tarazkp! I hope we can find out from you behind the camera about some events, interesting anecdotes, gossip! Take it easy and enjoy the moment, that life is one and these events are not done every day. Smile for the camera! Greetings

Maybe I should run a gossip column and be my own paparazzi ;)

I plan on enjoying as much as I can there.

I live in Venezuela and this year will be my first SteemFest, although I will not be able to attend because of the distance, since just yesterday I completed nine continuous months of work publishing in steemit.

After passing the trance of HF20 I am very pleased with Steemit.INC and with the people I have met.

I hope that the event will generate new ideas for steemit and the blockchain that will take us to a better world where the principles and values will be strengthened for the benefit of the whole community.

Receive my affections @tarazkp

I think that it generally creates new relationships and the ideas from the events filter through the community and spawn new ideas. This will be my first.

One thing that does concern me is when I will have time to post because I still plan on putting something up each day

Lol that's Taraz for ya, always thinking about work.

I think steem will be okay if you're off for a few days, just go there and have fun

Maybe I will just post selfies :D

Try not to choke on Krakauer!

I will stick to the Pole dancing..

Watching or performing?

I am no wallflower... :D

I love that you're packing beach attire and I'm already planning like sweaters and heavy artillery like that. We have really different views there, man :P
Having your toes crossed sounds really nasty (you should really stop, I mean if you want to be able to walk at all in Poland )

We'll have fun, I'm sure of it :P Regardless of the clothing or the level of tipsiness

I bought some new shoes and.. they are really painful to walk in. I am hoping they will adjust a bit :)

I will have to take a jacket or two. Just in case.

I'm in the same boat shoe! Well, kinda, the shoes I was hoping to take are falling apart so they're a no-go :/ How about we start a barefoot trend, you and me?

I will go with thick socks I think :D

I'm wearing all my clothes irrelevant to what the forecast is. I might even wear anything else I find lying around.

If one cider did you in, you'll be good with half a polish lager 😛🍺/2

I might even wear anything else I find lying around.

Well, I don't think you will be wearing any of my clothes Gulliver.

If one cider did you in, you'll be good with half a polish lager 😛🍺/2

I am going to have to behave. I don't do well sick or hungover.

After hours. What happens in Krakow stays in Krakow and who knows you may enjoy it. You will be easy to spot though. The only Indian in Poland wearing shorts lol.

The only Indian in Poland wearing shorts lol.

You should have seen me the first winter I was in Finland. -20, shorts and a jumper :D

Bit like me. I hate jerseys so had an outdated jersey with no sleeves. The funny thing is it came back into fashion. my kids wouldn't walk with me when I fetched them from school as I wore shorts in winter to.
I think when you are raised wearing shorts and summer clothing you find it hard to change and dress up.

I think it was just so damn cold my body didn't know what to do. The Summer this year was really warm though so now I feel quite cool at +5 when normally I would be wearing a hoody only.

I would encourage you to go with the flow and enjoy. You do not have to drink unless you want to. But embrace the experience and take photos too.

It is going to be fun and I am looking forward to it but at the same time, unsure what will come of it. exciting. :)
