Fisherman’s Lake, Liberia
6^44’7” N, 11^15’4” W
This was a jointly used station, both the RAF, the USAAF, and prior to the entry of the USA to the war, Pan American Seaplanes, were known to operate from there.
This Station was also known, later, as Lake Piso, and is near Robertsport.
Robertsport lies on Cape Mount Peninsula, and is separated from the main land by Lake Piso, and is 50 km North on Monrovia, Liberia’s Capital.
At 103 sq/m it is the largest Lake in Liberia.
The first US flight was from New York to Fisherman’s Lake on 7th December 1941, following arrangements made in secret between President Roosevelt and the Liberian President Barclay.
The Station serviced a dozen or so Pan American Seaplanes which ferried men and supplies to Liberia.
