Simple Daily Steps for Self-Improvement

Every day or so, @pathtosuccess takes a quote and meditates on it for a while ... in writing. These become insightful little motivational pep-talks, or inspirational thoughts that help you line yourself up to face the day. It's a great little blog, and if I can find 10 minutes to myself someday, I'm planning to do something like it.
Meanwhile, you can stop by and sample her little treats already. And if when I get my act together, you'll have variety enough to make a decent snack. You simply cannot have too much support and encouragement to get you through the day -- life being what it is. Enjoy!

Reading this post by @arbitrarykitten I have two things to say. First, it's a disgrace that any of our military veterans (or any of our citizens for that matter) should be reduced to living like this; our society -- the richest on earth -- should be ashamed of itself. Secondly, thank God, they at least have this. And now I'm going to bite my tongue bloody so I can stop right there.

On the morning of August 14, 2017, a mudslide in Regent, Sierra Leone killed nearly 500 people, with 10,000 driven from their homes. It was triggered by intensely heavy rains over a few days, resulting in a slope failure at the regolith-bedrock boundary.

@tremendospercy is at it again, writing about something I never heard of. He says it himself: Surely decoding the riddle that is our lost history is more newsworthy than the latest utterance of a criminal politician or a vapid celebrity? Apparently not! Thank goodness we have Steemit then.
