LOSS FOR RENEWABLE ENERGY IN AUSTRALIA
UNDER A LIBERAL GOVERNMENT THE RENEWABLE ENERGY SECTOR IS DYING AND SO IS OUR ENVIRONMENT.
Australia needs to stop its reliance on fossil fuels, you’ve probably heard of heaps of left wing cucks go on about this issue all the time and the reason is always because of climate change. I got news for you there is also tons of other reasons for us to ditch fossil fuels, for instance a new report out by the coal industry stating that coal export has previously peaked in 2016 and entered a “terminal long-term decline”, this report goes on to say that the increase in coal prices has pushed global markets towards not only cheaper but cleaner alternatives. I’m sure I’ll still look and find the right-wing dinosaurs running the Liberal party in Australia twists themselves in mental knots trying to weasel their way out of crafting any meaningful legislation that deals with the negative impacts of this report. The picture below of our very own Prime Minister bringing a lump of coal into Parliament house to show the people not to be afraid of coal speaks a thousand words, one word does come straight to mind: “dickhead”.
Our main global importers Japan, South Korea, China and Taiwan have started to work this out and have started scaling back estimates for how much coal they will consume into the future, thus influencing those markets to find alternatives to generate power. Yet here we are digging it up and exporting it like its 2001 all the while dragging our feet with finding alternatives. Australia doesn’t even rank in the top 10 for renewable energy, we are far from global leaders in this sector – a sector that could prove as larger industry than any other, which sounds like an amazing investment but all you hear from the other side is this argument: “ we are a small country so relative to the amount of greenhouse gas emissions the rest of the world is producing, our impact is minimal”, so the countries that do the most polluting should do the most work”, which is fucking absurd. Replace “polluting using fossil fuels” with straight up “littering in our oceans”, because don’t worry “we are a small country so relative to the amount of pollution the rest of the world puts out, our impact is minimal” – fuck off you’re still destroying the world.
I’m going to finish up with some stats:
- Transitioning Australia to 100% renewable energy by 2050 would cost less than continuing on the current path
- By removing the need for fossil fuels such as coal, gas and oil, it would save the economy up to $740bn, saving $90bn over the period to 2050
- Miriam Lyons, a senior campaigner at GetUp, said the $800bn investment needed to transition the economy could be boom for the economy.
In conclusion the Australian Liberal party needs to stop suckling at the teat of giant multinational fossil fuel companies and stop accepting cash/bribes from them, last year the party received $1,000,000 from fossil fuel companies. My main contention is that our reliance on fossil fuels is at a determent to our society whether it be environmentally or economically. Especially when you take into consideration health outcomes and loss of productivity due to air quality and pollution.
