THINGS PEOPLE REGRET NOT DOING IN THE UNIVERSITY

in #regrets7 years ago

Good evening beloved followers, hope your weekend is going on great. Today I was thinking of my lifestyle in school, I thought of how I can maximise the use of being a student and things I must do now to avoid regrets in the near future. This led me to carry out a sort of online questionnaire to my friends that are graduates, I gathered their regrets and turned it to an article, to share with students here and also give the graduates a piece for their younger ones.

THINGS PEOPLE REGRET NOT DOING IN UNIVERSITY

  1. SOCIALISING :- A good amount of people wish they socialised more, the university wall has the highest amount of social activity going on but because of academic demands, most people starve their social life to death and all they do is read. Graduating from school to face the school of life, these people have come to realise that sociality is an important factor in life and because of work and their present environment, they are not opportuned to make up for all they have missed. Sociality also involves making friends and keeping them, one of my friends that came out with an excellent result in marketing confesed how he is not doing well in his profession now because of his low social life.

  2. STRIKING A BALANCE :- If you are coming to school just to study then you are wrong, dashing a whopping 4-5years to just your handouts? Most of them had this regret as well, they wish they striked a balance between studying and other things. I know of someone that is presently a student, she doesn't cook because she believes the time used in cooking should rather be used studying, so she eats out. Imagine how it would be for her to start cooking after her 5 years course. I know of people that don't go to church or even do their laundry, there should be a balance between all that, if you don't want to be among those giving me a pile of regrets in the near future, make a reschedule.

  3. SKILLS AND SPECIAL PROGRAMS :- acquiring skills and attending special professional programs is cheaper in school than anywhere else, most of this programs are important in our field and you might find it necessary to do later. These programmes are made cheap and sometimes free for students but some people miss out of it. If you are still a student, ensure to engage in as many profitable programmes as possible.

  4. REACHING OUT :- it's not only about your good grades but also the amount of people you affected positively. Touch lives, help people, be nice, teach others. You might not need people in school because you are a guru then you just focus on yourself alone, tomorrow that dulard in your department might be the one to connect you to a job or you might need a large vote or public remark on something.

  5. GIVE YOUR BEST SHOT :- there are so many people that wishes to go to school but couldn't for one reason or the other. You will never be at rest graduating without making the best of your opportunity, while there are people out there that wish they got the opportunity. Your certificate will always look you in the face and If you didn't put in your best,it would be a tomentor for life.

Those are common regrets I gathered from graduates,I hope someone learned from it and if you are touched to add yours, kindly do.

If i actually decide to talk on this post,i might use upto 20 lines saying just a few things,i agree with u where u said people dont do some minor and major things and solely focus on their books...u are 100% correct..... diversification is neccessary carrying out our daily activities,we should apportion our time in such a way that we would be able to do justice to other things

You got it all right

Acquiring skills and learning programs is very very important. It is a backup for low grades and a boost for good grades.

@jeaniepearl

The point you shared are absolutely it, especially the striking the balance aspect... Gosh!!! It can be more than painful at the moment you find yourself needing the needed

Other than school, another place u will benefit of getting skills cheaper is during ur NYSC. Let's take ICAN, NIM etc. Is quite cheaper getting it compared to the fees you pay after service.

Yes,good one
Thanks for your contribution

Everyone should be able to give ones best shot in school unless you already had it worked out that school is not for you: Bill Gates and Steve Jobs did it :)

I think that there hardly any way that people will not have any regret(s) as the advance the ladder of life, once the major aim is achieved, the regrets are usually on minor issues.

I belong to the socializing aspect... it is well bcos I think I can boast of somthing good about it but I still do wish I did then

Uhh thanks for opening up
Hope you are socialising now

Yes...I am now
