I've just realized the majority of the "Song of The Day" songs that I've posted so far is music that directs genuine passionate affection to the one you are infatuated with. I guess that's better than negative vibes!

In 1975, an American soulful female trio, consisting of Pat Hodges, Denita James, and Jessica Smith, also known as Hodges, James, & Smith releases "Sexy Ways", from their second commercial album Power of Your Love.

The Detroit-based trio with the genius of Motown's William "Mickey" Stevenson initially created the group with the intention to rival The Supremes. Unfortunately, that goal was not achieved and most of their records rarely received the due attention. Nevertheless, that does not take away from the fact they made quality music.

As usual, I will be sharing with you the original song, as well as examples of how the original song was sampled to create life into new music.

Enjoy!

Sampled in:

Hostyle (Of Screwball) feat. Big Noyd, Blaq Poet and KL - Love and Hate (Prod. by Emile Haynie)

Edgar Allen Floe - The Torch (Flame Thrower Remix) (prod. by 9th Wonder)

Don Cannon and Young Chris feat. Freeway and Beanie Sigel - Last 2 (Prod. by 9th Wonder)

From their 1973 debut album, Incredible, is another classic song by the girls titled, "Signal Your Intention". This particular song is the most commonly sampled song from the trio's discography. Absolutely understandable with such a powerful and soulful intro -- the artists tend to write an introspective track.

Sampled In:

Cormega feat. Tragedy Khadafi - They Forced My Hand (Prod. by Spunk Bigga)

Starlito feat. Don Trip - No Rearview

Tito Lopez - They Told Me

Thank You Thank You Thank You ! More classics from @scuzzy
Lovin your curations, Kudos!

You already know!

Super nice classics! I knew about these girls but not this track. Listened to it with pleasure.

It's unfortunate that their primary goal was to supersede The Supremes. Perhaps it was a distraction. Having said that, Diana Ross is an enormous force. Glad you enjoyed it!

Wow, now that is a complete post. Glad I discovered you

Thanks, hopefully there's something you can enjoy or learn.

oh man.. the song is almost as sexy as that album cover!

great content man
