Steemit Record Pool | Song of The Day: Lonnie Liston Smith - Summer Nights (1975) / A Garden of Peace (1983)
Not to be confused with Dr. Lonnie Smith, the legendary Lonnie Liston Smith is an American jazz, soul, and funk pianist/keyboardist. Since his career in 1965, Lonnie Liston Smith has accompanied notable jazz artists such as Miles Davis, Pharoah Sanders, Roland Kirk, Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers, Leon Thomas, and more -- and this was all prior to 1973. Smith's discography has over 50 records released and he is still active at age 76.
Now let's get to the Song of The Day! From his 1975 jazz fusion record "Visions Of A New World", accompanied by The Cosmic Echoes, is the appropriately titled outro song, "Summer Nights". The warmth of the Rhodes with the soft vocals create a surreal atmosphere and experience.
Sampled in: Joey Bads$$ - Summer Knights (2012)
This next song is perhaps Smith's most sampled song. Track 4 on the b-side of the 1983 enchanting record, "Dreams Of Tomorrow", is the serene and captivating instrumentation track titled "A Garden Of Peace".
