Howlin Hot Beef Chilli! (Iron Maiden style!)
Howlin Hot Chilli, with special guest appearance of Iron Maiden's Trooper beer!!
You don't have to use this beer in particular, any old strong dark beer will do, I use this stuff cos I love it! Using beer in a chilli gives a little jazz and background depth that you will really notice and when you couple that with howlin heat you can't go wrong!
Let's get chilli making!
You will need
Half a kilo of ground beef
A can of red kidney beans
1 onion
3 plump cloves of garlic
1 big red jalapeño
1 scotch bonnet chilli
1 earth shatteringly massive habanero, or just big ;0)
2 carrots
1 stalk of celery
1 bottle of dark beer, preferably The Trooper!
2 tablespoons of tomato paste
2 heaped teaspoons of cocoa powder
2 heaped teaspoons of cumin
1 heaped teaspoon of smoked paprika
1 teaspoon of allspice
1 heaped teaspoon of oregano
Some sea salt and black pepper
Rice for two
To make
Finely chop your garlic, onion, scotch bonnet and Jalapeño. Leave the habanero for now!! Although you can pierce it with your knife several times
Now give them a fry in a little oil over a medium heat with a pinch of sea salt
Chop your celery also and add to the fun
Now add your big dod of minced beef!
Give it a bit of a jabbing to break it up into smaller pieces and turn the heat up a little so it can get a good browning
In the meantime chop your carrots roughly
Add your cocoa powder, cumin, smoked paprika and allspice with a pinch of sea salt and grinding of black pepper and give a good stir
Now add your carrots and kidney beans
Now time to add that special Iron Maiden beer, The Trooper!!!
Look it's even got a cool bottle cap
Anyway back to the cooking!!!
Oops, squirt a couple of tablespoons of tomato paste into the mix with a big heaped teaspoon of oregano
Add your habanero and let that mix simmer on a very low heat for an hour or a bit more
It's ready when it has thickened right up
Now take off the heat and leave for a few hours, even overnight for maximum flavour infusion.
Now when ready cook up that rice and serve up the Howlin Hot Iron Maiden Chilli!!
Drunk yum!!!
Enjoy!!
I have to admit, I never thought of putting chili on rice, but it looks amazing. And, wow, cerveza in my Chili, I feel the urge to make this recipe RIGHT NOW! Sorry, go to get cooking - BYE
