Did you reach your goals in March?

in #ramblings6 years ago (edited)

What did you do this month to reach your goals??

This is something, that I want to ask myself now every month on the platform. Goals are important right?? If we don't have goals, then we cannot move forward? The weird thing is though, that the goals I achieved, I never intentionally set out to achieve them in the first place.

Spring is awakening.

As the last of the winter snow, slowly melts away and the spring blossom is appearing on the trees, I feel like I am moving into a new phase, on the platform. I feel that more has been accomplished in march than ever before, since I joined Steemit.

I discovered that since working full time on the platform, about 90% of the work is made up of engaging with new people and reading content, vs creating content on the platform.

I would say that I curate, way more than I post on the platform, not because I feel I have to. But there is so much that needs to be shared, from truly talented people. I discovered my own individual voice, that my own opinion counts regardless of what anyone else says and that it does not matter really what other people think, its what I believe in that's what is important.

My highlights for the month of March

It's impossible to share all the wonderful things, that happened this month. More so to say that I feel like this month, felt more like a year with all the activity that I had done. Some times I was waking at 7am and not sleeping till 3am the following morning.

I hate to be modest, but I have worked damned hard this month I really have. Here are some of the things I discovered and how they helped me to grow on the platform.

  • With thanks to the podcasts on VOTU, I learned how SMT's will work, looking at both the positive and negative aspects of them. How tokens can have liquid value, and also how they can have reward value also.

If you would like to learn more about VOTU they are a wonderful community, who have welcomed me with open arms. Below is a link to their discord server, they have welcomed me with open arms, they recognised my contributions towards the platform and within a month, I was promoted to Level 70 Wizard, to Gunner to Pirate Moderator.

There are so many wonderful people in the group, such as @baby07, who works tirelessly helping people on the platform, sometimes I don't think that she sleeps. @bluefinstudios who not only encourages people to network, but has been a pillar of support to me, and answering many questions that I have had. @beanz who heads up the whole server, she works tirelessly for minnows and planktons alike, she is not afraid to shoutout for them that the reward pool is not working and that many great contributors are not being recognised.

  • By discovering PYPT (Pimp your post Thursdays) I found that I had a voice, and I could not only promote my own posts, but the posts of other people. People are becoming more interested in what I have to say, and in turn I am more interested in what they say. I think this is the part where I discovered about true curation and what it meant. Which is where I got the idea also about shoutout Saturdays.

  • The Steem Engine was probably one of the first servers I was a part of along side PAL. But its more close knit and on a smaller scale. Recognising people for their good word, and rewarding them, with mentions in the Daily Whistle Stop. I have featured a few times now and become good friends with @enchantedspirit, who helped me to believe in my work, gave me some good pointers and supports me in my efforts.

Thats when I gained the courage to put an application in to the alliance for membership. I still doubted my own work and it felt like a big leap forward for me which would take me well out of my comfort zone.

The great thing was that they saw potential in my work, but knew I needed extra help. I took on board all the great feedback they gave me and I put it into practice. I only graduated a few days ago and became a fully fledged member, the support they offer is incomparable to anything I have ever experienced on the platform.

I want to show you the difference, between my posts then and my posts now.

Check out this post I did in February, just a month ago.

Day 17 Fulltime Steemit (That's it no more run in's no more drama from me)

Now look at the format, look how there is hardly any markdown, no pictures. huge paragraphs. It's all just words.

Now look at this post I did recently and see the difference.

The History of the Hammer Horror Industry.

See the format looks better, the markdown, the style. The importance of sourcing your images, if you are using other people's material. All that accomplished in four to six weeks, just by talking to people, asking for help and learning from them.

Then lets not forget that also by networking, I have set up my own discord server Paranormal steem. I have also created a new tag for the platform shoutout Saturdays, which is growing in popularity and a very good initiative to be involved in, where I am meeting even more incredible people.

To finish.

Like I asked at the beginning, did you do everything you set out to achieve your goals? Did you even have, any goals to begin with? By reading this post by now, you should have a sure fine idea to gain some traction on the platform if you are not already.

Personally for me I have paddled long enough its time now to start to stretch my sea legs, and go a little deeper which is what I intend to do in April. My main focus being quality over quantity, thats what I now keep telling myself, quality over quantity over and over again. I always struggled with what I wanted to write about, I could never work out what my niche was, and it is only very recently that I have come to realise what I am.

I am an inspiriationalist

I dedicate this post to all the people on the platform, who feel like giving up. Don't you just need to keep treading that water, be consistent, don't be a know it all and learn as much as you can.

And lastly to my followers and friends, who read this. I will never been able to thank you enough for your generosity, your friendship and your support these past few weeks. I have come a long way, and I could not do it without all of you. I truly look forward to what ever is in store for us.

I wish you all a wonderful easter break.

xoxo

Hello, I am a new member to steemit, and have found this nugget of feel good by searching the tag, ramblings, you are a crafty one my dear, I was hoping to have been the first to use it and was cleverly beaten by you, I read this post, and plan on reading your other posts that you have linked to, afterwards, I plan on completing my Profile page, I just wanted to congratulate you for two things, beating me to the punch in creating the tag ramblings, and your progress. If I may be so bold, may I assume English isn't your first language? No matter, I love you and goodnight.

@laraszahostradio wow your name took me a little time to spell. I am english, British in fact which is why it may appear different if you are used to American english. Lol no sorry to say but the ramblings tag is used by some of the members in here you will have to become a little more creative. I am so glad that you reached out to me and read my post, welcome to the platform. Top advice I can give you is engage with as many members as you can, write great comments like the one you just did and you will go far ;)

By comparism, your latter posts are better than the former. It's nice to know that you set goals for yourself and your achieving them. Your also becoming a better and more complete individual on steem and also curating on the work of others.

I may not have achieved my plans for steem in the month of March, I feel dispointed in myself. But nevertheless, I know I have evolved on steem in the month of March.

Thanks for motivating me to do more @crazybgadventure

Thank you for feeding into this @korexe my opinion even if you have not achieved your goals this month if you feel that you have moved forward and learned more thank you knew the prior month you need to give yourself a huge pat on the back.

Yes, reached my work and my Steemit goals. Even the family time was there and now a vacation. Sounds good for me.

Love to get some more beer lovers to the Steemit #BeerSaturday Challenge in April.

If we don't have goals, then we cannot move forward?

That's an interesting question. There are defined goals, and ambiguous ones. Obviously, we want to continue learning and growing throughout our lives. We can set goals and milestones beforehand, or, as in your case, we keep seeking growth without necessarily defining these goals.

I see that you are quite active and have important roles in several groups, and that is great to see. I'm sure that at the beginning of the month, you could not even try to make up these achievements as goals. A lot of situations rise and we have to take opportunities at the moment, and that is why 'goals' themselves may be restrictive if they are rigid.

I for one, did not have plenty of goals, except to continue working hard on my poetry and my uni course. Mid-way, new priorities came out and my current goal is to become a better me and be stronger, for myself. I may be a week or two behind in my studies, but at the same time I am truly proud of my achievements in my personal life. There are a lot of things that cannot be measured, but I do feel that I have achieved some persona growth in March, and I hope that I keep on growing.

Your progress is fast and amazing in its quality growth. Spring has a great effect on you 💚

I can't wait to see what April has in store for us.

I did a recap of my first quarter of 2018 two days ago. So far I am doing good with my goals except for the cashing out part as the Steem and SBD price now is really not at a good price for cashing out.

I agree right now I am powering mine up at least that way im investing in myself.

For sure you have been busy, nearly ever discord I go into you have been there before me in the chat. It's wonderful you move in so many different communities, and have worked so hard to develop you post skills and style. I could do with improving my own layout skills, maybe I should go back to school! Happy Easter, I hope you are having a good Long weekend.

Thank you my friend, its not easter here yet we fall on the orthodox calender not the gregorian so easter here is next weekend. Seemingly Jesus was not sure when he wanted to resurrect lol no offence. I have been busy but more of a rewarding busy than a stressed busy, feel like I learned a lot and not I can't stop even if I wanted to.

It's good that someone has a goal... I have a goal to achieve for more than 10 years... I have tasted the failure, the agony, the debts and the very great hardships this period has come to an end after my experience in the world of business, but I still believe in my goal and continue towards it with pride and enthusiasm and feel it approaching... Also one of the most beautiful things I have achieved in March, in which I have been compensated by all the difficulties I have faced... It's steemit... On this site I was able to show my talent that I didn't know anything about in writing, though I'm still a little bit in the first 10 days in steemit... I've achieved what it takes a month or so.

Thank you for your comment I am happy you found steemit and you are enjoying it keep on contributing great content.

The maturity in your writing and the improvement in the formatting and execution of your posts in only a month's time is simply miraculous. I can hardly believe you are the same person. No kidding. I am amazed and I am so proud of you. What a splendid job you have done!

Thank you so much for your kind words I have a lot to thank you for also.

Congratulations! This post has been chosen as one of the daily Whistle Stops for The STEEM Engine!
