Mind Control and Buying into Falsity, or Seeking Truth and Awakening

in #psychology6 years ago

In a way, we are the ones who are mind controlling and fooling ourselves, individually and collectively, through our ignorance of self-knowledge, how consciousness functions and the importance of truth. As a society, we pressure each other into conforming to a normalized acceptability spectrum of a conditioned way of life with little to no critical thinking and evaluation.

We aren't literally strapped into a chair made to accept certain things, but it's what's happening symbolically, metaphorically, allegorically.

People want to point the finger at the "powers that be" or "elite" and "media", etc., and rightly we should look at and recognize their role in our dumbed-down, mind-controlled and programmed lives. But we are all complicit in this game of buying and selling ideas and beliefs to live our lives by.

We are the ones who accept or reject information. There are many external influences trying to manipulate us, but we are the ones who can accept or reject it, to deny it when it's presented, or outright avoid it like not watching the news that influences us to accept false narratives (like Syria).

Source

We can change our ways of thinking and acting. We can allow the influences to condition us, or recognize these manipulations and not become tacit receivers in a systemic program of control that sells us false narrative and worldviews.

How awakened and aware are you?
Do you consider yourself awake?
What does being awake mean?

If we consider being awake as having the desire to learn, understand and be more aware of reality, then we must continually ask ourselves "is this really true?" when we come across new information. We must also be willing to examine our previously held onto and attached views that we have been conditioned to see and think about our world. We are accepting unreal things as real.

If we don’t question the information that is provided to us, to try to determine its validity, then we are a high-target for gullibility, suggestibility and being manipulated, deceived, tricked, conned, duped, hoodwinked, bamboozled and screwed. Manipulators sell us on things, but we buy into it, when we can be less blindly trusting and choose to think more critically.

Ask yourself:

Do you want to question the veracity and validity of information by thinking about it and increasing your awareness of it by noticing, observing, paying attention, reflecting, pausing, contemplating and pondering?

Or do you want to continue being manipulated, duped, conned, deceived, tricked, fooled, screwed, bamboozled, pulled-one-over, hoodwinked, etc., due to your unwillingness to become more aware of reality and reaching greater degrees of understanding about the truthfulness, accuracy, correctness, and validity of the information presented to you?

The choice is that simple, but it requires understanding the complexity of ourselves and the reality we live in. We need to learn more accurate truth, and unlearn falsity masquerading as "truth". There is a lot of misinformation, disinformation and falsity pervading the information we can access from the Internet, media and the people in our lives who repeat what they believe to be "true".

Source

We can either care about truth and honesty in trying to align our perceptions with an accurate representation of reality. Or we can not care and buy into whatever is being sold to believe whatever we want to believe regardless of it being true or not. We can become more wise, or we can stay and become more of a fool.

We are our own worst enemies in many cases. We fool ourselves because we reject the supreme importance of truth in our lives.

Truth or consequence. Be right or go wrong. The choice is ours.

Care for, seek, accept, embrace, embody, live and share the truth about our reality. We are all in this together. We all need to accept this responsibility in life to elevate ourselves and others in order to improve our collective condition and quality of life.

Thank you for your time and attention. Peace.

I couldn't agree more.

We each decide: will I latch onto others' Truth and create accordingly or will I develop my own sense of Truth and create accordingly?

Both ways are equally valid an experience, yet the former will embark on the path of victimhood, eventually putting the blame on others for our misery. "I didn't want that in the first place" will then be our directive, while the latter will go the path of Self-responsibility, knowing that the external is merely a reflection of our internal.

Thank you for these well-written lines! :)

Yup, blame others for blindly following them and lead ourselves to our own suffering through ignorance and loyalty. Being responsible to lead our way of verifying truth is how we know we are grounded.

The thing is that we are so consumed by information that sometimes we think that we are enlightened, and we are manipulated instead. So, we have to get a media detox first, and take our time to think: "Is this event/fact/thought even make sense?"

And we have to accept when sometimes we are proven wrong. That's the hardest thing.

Grounding in reality is where it starts, otherwise you don't know whats real to begin with ;)

Indeed there is a war on for our minds. Conditioning is part of it. Familiarity breed the acceptance of untruths and it does not help when folks are apathetic and too lazy to investigate. The mind is the pathway to the soul and those who speak lies know this. Truth must prevail. Thanks @krnel

It's an info war for sure, mind control is the goal. Truth is the healing solvent ;)

For sure... what we CARE about is of vital importance! Misplaced care is like nurturing the weeds in your garden :-( If our values are set in a sane manner, such as truth over loyalty, then our attention (care) is directed toward an outcome of sanity and freedom!

Yup, loyalty to truth rather than personal loyalty to others that blinds us into accepting falsity ;)

Be warned.
I went down this rabbit hole and found out.

Everything I learned in govern-cement school is wrong. EVERYTIHING!

I would not say all, but a lot, yes ;)

Nice job!
