How To Make Fruit Roll-Up

Good Morning :)

I bet @plantstoplanks will love this article today as I will be sharing a recipe using pumpkin, and she just loooooveeesss pumpkins and gourds much :D

I made fruit leather yesterday, so, so, so good, I kid you not.

And for today's flavor, am sharing the one with pumpkin. I made quite a few, with apples and berries too, but yeah, pumpkin it is for now :)

Sounds weird, fruit roll-up, yet using pumpkin, when pumpkin is more to vegetable, right? Well, think of pumpkin PIE.

Yep, these leathers are flavored with pumpkin pie spice :D

My husband and my oldest really like these pumpkin leather and I packed a couple rolls to my oldest's lunch box this morning, which he was so excited to show his friends lol

Here is the recipe, should you like to try :)

  • 2 c frozen steamed pumpkin puree
  • 2 tbsp water
  • 1/8 tsp each of ginger powder, cinnamon powder, nutmeg powder
  • a generous pinch of freshly grind cloves
  • 3 tbsp brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp sugar

  • Defrost frozen pumpkin puree on stove, over medium high heat
  • Cook until moisture and water evaporated, and puree is thick
  • Once puree is thick, stir in 2 tbsp water and the rest of the ingredients, cook on high for 1 minute
  • Spread mixture thinly, on parchment lined rectangular pan

  • Bake on preheated 170 F for 8 H . Yep, you read right, 8 H to achieve that dry but pliable leather texture, but this is depending on your oven.
  • Let cool slightly, then cut into strips

  • Enjoy, roll, stored in container or ziplock and yummo :D

I will share you the recipe for the apples and berries some other time, but basically they are similar measurements and method :)

Thanks for looking and see you around <3

Do you have trouble with this? I do not think I have seen it more than a handful of times in 2 years. Maybe because you are a witness?

I havent seen any for months. I have had this warning since forever though, even before i was a witness.

I have never tried it but I've heard so much about it. There is a girl in Slovakia who made a booming business out of these fruits rolls. When you pack them nicely you can make a beautiful birthday present too.

It sounds like a healthy way to satisfy that sweet tooth :) I think I will finally try it. There is still plenty of pumpkin here so this should not be a problem :)

Have a lovely day!

Hi there, apa kabar?

Yes i do bump home businesses who do edible bouquet of sweets, fruits, cheese from time to time, and they have fruit roll ups on their bouquets. There are some on Instagram too, mostly Russians.

This is one recipe I have never tried before; and if my kids all still were young and at home, I'd be making some.

Perhaps I'll attempt it for the grandkids!!

Yeeessss, come on grandma, make some for the grandbabies ❤

We have Candy that is roller up this way here in Holland

Yeah, i bet. I saw some in Germany and Hungary too, in other words, pretty common everywhere ❤

And i love the we call it STROOP with the aetable paper.
Its grandmas Candy thats how long they exist

Nice that the paper is edible there, wish they would use edible paper here as well

I only use edible paper for cake decorating 😁

Let me know if you want me to send you Some

Saaaweeet. Thanks!

I did not understand, and what to do with the paper? Or is the pumpkin easily removed from it?

You peel it, yes 😊

Have you tried store bought fruit roll up before? The paper helps so that the candy wont stick to itself.

You dont have to roll it with the paper, esp once it's dried and serve the candy right away, btw 😊

How are you btw? Did you win the art contest?

Genius!! Sounds like a delicious way to eat your veggies, haha! We're working on getting my niece to try more things, so I'm going to have to remember to try this for her. I remember eating the sticky, sugary processed ones from the store as a kids but this sounds soooo much better!

We still get them for school lunch box occasionally, when this momma is lazy 😁

That's so cool. I'd rather do it without sugar though - I wonder if it'd work with maple syrup? They look very pretty as well. I bet they taste amazing!

yes! you can use honey, if you are not vegan that is, or maple syrup, or even leave it out (like for berries and or ripe banana, I do not really add sweetener)
