"Measured Our Mettle" ... Vote: 10,000 STEEM Delegation
Measured Our Mettle
Not dog in a fight, but fight in a dog,
Some dogs, refuse they to yield,
Will not they give ground, will not they back down,
Refuse, these dogs to be heeled.
And though they be small, their shadows are tall,
For might, is measured in heart,
Burns something inside as odds they’re defied,
As courage, it sets them apart.
So too it with Men, as One becomes Ten,
Such Men, refuse they to kneel,
Draw they a sword to face it a horde,
As heart, it strengthens their steel.
Perchance they are fools, or know not the rules,
Perchance, they cannot do math,
Gallant, their splendor; will not they surrender,
Tempting a larger man’s wrath.
And so it is now, refusal to bow,
A fight, for STEEM to survive,
We’ve earned it our place with grit and with grace,
As ever, for Greatness, we strive.
Fight not we for FLAGS, but for right to it brag,
That We … Do Not Compromise,
Measured our mettle in refusal to settle,
For GREATNESS, our banner it flies.
And so must you choose which thing to infuse,
Which thing, will Steemit inherit,
We need it Your Vote and the thing it connotes,
Blockchain … go base it on Merit.
The Great @theycallmedan 10,000 STEEM Delegation is nearing its end.
A number of Nominee Groups have ceded and asked their Members to support SteemitBloggers (recently re-branded as the Power House Creatives) ... most notably, two groups for whom Creating and Curating High Quality Content is the purpose of their existence, @qurator and @freewritehouse. From Our House to Yours, we thank you for your support. You are Class Acts.
The members of the Power House Creatives hail from every corner of Earth. Our Founder and Commander-In-Chief, @jaynie, lives in South Africa. Our Number 2, @zord189, lives in Malaysia. I am a Canadian, who lives in the United States. Others live in England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales, Germany, Slovakia, the Netherlands, France, the Philippines, India, Denmark, Sweden, the United States, Uruguay, Canada, Croatia, Bulgaria, Belgium, Russia, South Korea, Australia and Indonesia.
We are not a group bound by nationality.
We are a group bound by an ideal: That to survive, and to thrive, Steemit must be capable of creating "Great Content." Not "Good Content" or even "Very Good Content."
Great Content.
Poets and writers. Musicians and chefs. Photographers, videographers and visual artists. It matters not the Art Form ... but it matters that it's Art.
The First Principle of Leadership is that you don't ask of others what you are unwilling to ask of yourself. And so, we walk the walk. No excuses. It's a high standard we set and one which we do not always achieve. But our failures do not impede our ambitions.
Steemit is but the cumulative result of a million choices. We have made ours ... and now we ask you to make yours.
We ask for Your Vote.

This one is awesome too. I feel like I need to print both out and read them daily.
Pleasure to read your piece! Yup, definitely sounds as what we know as Spartan.
Could not help but think of a picture I recently made:
@manoldonchev,
Jeese ... he does look mad. :-)

Got my vote I will try to get you a few more

Thank you SO much for your support @stever82 - we are getting so close now and every ounce of help counts... so we really appreciate your efforts!
Thank you @stever82! It means so much to us!
@stever82,
Steve ... thanks a million, mate. You send enough votes our way ... and I'll write a poem about you. I've never seen a bunch of people fight so hard for a thing. PHC's Discord Channel is like the Situation Room during an invasion.
If the Whales had a clue between them, they'd start throwing delegations hand-over-fist whenever they see this kind of enthusiasm ... or, at least, add a few accounts to their auto-upvote algorithms.
Quill
Steve got me to go vote also.
@drazeus,
Mate, thank you. Your support is greatly appreciated. One more poem before thing is over. No sleep. :-)
Quill
Definitely inspiring to see the amount of fight in this community! Thank you for articulating it in such a perfect way. ❤
@plantstoplanks,
Thanks. Admittedly, it took a bit of thinking to come up with an angle for the poem. Could be the lack of sleep. :-)
Quill
Hey there ..great post!
@rebeccabe,
Hi Rebecca.
Thanks. Keep hammering. We've still got lots of time.
Quill
I know anything is possible.
The dutchie is with you 😉
@brittandjosie,
Thanks. :-) I'm still waiting to hear back from some friends with multiple accounts. If we get them, things will be close to even.
Never Surrender.
Quill
Did you See the blog by @ abh12345?
@brittandjosie,
No ... will go look.

I'm a bot. I detect haiku.
I love haiku
@brittandjosie,
I just signed on and am only half way through my first cup of coffee. Yours was the first comment I read. Something about it seemed a bit ... strange. So, I re-read. What is it?
Holy Shit! This girl is typing in ... poetry!!!
Immediately, my patriarchal instincts went through the ceiling ... this girl needs a mentor to develop her innate talents. This girl needs ... ME.
But then ... I noticed your comment below. And then ... I saw haikubot.
She did it on purpose.
:-)
There is a definite correlation between my IQ and the concentration of caffeine coursing through my bloodstream.
Quill
Well i think its a compliment ! I Will ignore the concentration and caffeine.
And the only powerhouse-poet in da house IS QUILLDRILL
thank you for all the work in the poll works
I know you love your historic leaders, so I thought I'd leave you with this quote by Napoleon Bonaparte:
--Mattifer
@mattifer,
I DID NOT know that one. And it's brilliant. I love Napoleon!
Quill
I made it up just for you.
You're welcome.
@mattifer,
I was wondering ... "That does not sound particularly French. But then again, neither does "Le Weekend" ... which I am looking forward to. :-)
Quill
Let me rephrase it for you so that it sounds more French.
Le Vee Kend
See? Better already!
@fionasfavourites,
You are right about the mettle. I've seldomly seen a group of people fight so hard for a thing. @jaynie and @zord189 have, demonstrably, earned their Right to Command.
Quill
Definately. ♥︎♥︎⚖️♥︎♥︎
Indeed. That they have

What an absolutely beautifully apt poem @quillfire!!!! Thank you so much for all your heart too!!!! Together we have achieved so much already!!!
@jaynie,
For those that don't know, this is "The Jaynie" you may have noticed frequently referenced. She is the Founder and Commander-In-Chief of The Power House Creatives. Take a look at her profile pic ... she doesn't look all that intimidating, does she?
Go read the poem ... she's the "dog in the fight." This gal's got a spine made of steel.
In the military, you have no choice but to salute people you think unworthy of the honor. People who you do not believe deserve the command they've been given. There are, however, a few that you salute unbegrudgingly. One of the common character traits of such people is that they're not show ponies .... they lead from the front.
Alexander the Great, often argued to be the best general in history (hence, the moniker), was notorious for this. His men followed him ... because HE WENT FIRST. He was the proverbial Tip of the Spear. Hannibal was the same way. Caesar too. And Napoleon.
And Jaynie.
Jaynie ... you have earned your Right to Command and you have my salute.
Quill
MY GOODNES!!!!!!!!!! I think that is possibly the most amazing thing that has ever been said to me or about me - THANK YOU... I am quite gobsmacked! and @quillfire, without detail... you have NO IDEA how apt the timing of this comment was. I needed it, so I appreciate it for that even more!
@jaynie,
It is ONLY at the point when everyone else has given up ... that you begin to distinguish yourself.
Whatever is easy is what everyone else will do. So, do that which is difficult ... you'll have little competition.
Quill
Would hug you so tight right now!!!!!!
Love your poem @quillfire. Especially the line:
Everyone who has voted has displayed true heart for what we have here and appreciation of @jaynie and @zord189.
10k SP would make good yeilding power but I don't think that's all that's at stake now. ♥︎♥︎⚖️♥︎♥︎
beautifully said @allyinspirit :) and thank you!
Thank you @allyinspirit
@allyinspirit,
Ally, if you aren't yet a poet, I suspect you could be one.
Quill
From you @quillfire that is indeed a wonderful compliment. Thank you so much.
Being amidst so many creative authors at PHC is, on one hand slightly unnerving, but I choose to look at the other hand and see it as something that will allow my 'poetry muse' to revel in her true colours more often. ♥︎♥︎⚖️♥︎♥︎
@allyinspirit,
"... so many creative authors" ... and that includes you. Steel sharpens steel, Ally. You throw yourself in at the deep end ... and swim.
I STUDY how the other PHC folks write. If something was funny ... what made it funny? How exactly did that writer 'turn a phrase' ... and why did it sound so 'good?' Was there a literary technique they employed that I could "borrow" (steal life a thief in the night). All it takes is one insight and the quality of your writing can jump to the next level.
The critics originally made fun of Shakespeare, calling him (amongst other things) a "multi-colored crow." Apparently, that was quite the insult back then. He had not attended Oxford or Cambridge and "they" considered him a hack, stealing the idea of writing his plays in iambic pentameter.
Well, they weren't turning up their noses for long., were they? No human being, in all of history, has ever changed a language as much as Shakespeare changed English. Indeed, you'd be hard-pressed to utter a couple of paragraphs without unwittingly utilizing something Shakespeare invented.
Shakespeare beat Nike to their motto, if not literally, then figuratively: Just Do It.
