Help @Steemitbloggers win a 10k SP delegation

Once in a while, there is a chance for a large delegation to be won by a lucky community. With a large delegation, that community has a chance to present a better face of STEEM than the trending page that is the blight of our existence (and the butt of ongoing jokes) on the STEEM chain.

@theycallmedan has recently generously offered a 10k SP Delegation to a community for a year. The first round attracted many many nominations (including quite a few communities that I already belong to), but there were ten very worthy finalists for the last round of polling:

Top Ten Nominations:

#Powerhousecreatives aka @steemitbloggers - 57
@Votovzla - 48
@team-cn - 48
@Spunkeemonkee - 35
@Actifit - 33
@Dsound - 31
@Freewritehouse - 25
@Qurator - 23
@Crowdmind - 20
@SteemNurse - 16

Why @steemitbloggers?

There are few of these communities and projects that I am either a part of, or support, but there are a few reasons that I'm asking readers to cast a vote for @steemitbloggers (aka, powerhousecreatives) in this dpoll.

  1. @steemitbloggers is a tightly curated and quality controlled (human curated) group of international bloggers, musicians, poets and photographers who work hard to create high quality content with a high degree of engagement across the blogs. The blogs don't get insane payouts like the trending page (in fact most of the bloggers are minnows), and are a better representation the STEEM ecosystem than the few blogs that can afford to pay their way up to the top. The fact that it is a human curated and open only by invitation (on each post that is submitted for review) means that it doesn't suffer the same degree of abuse that some of the automated projects otherwise can be affected by.
  2. @steemitbloggers recently had a name change #powerhousecreatives to better represent the group. Although STEEM is the main home of the group, a good deal of the posts are also cross-posted to other crypto chains, and MORE IMPORTANTLY to traditional social media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram....). This visibility of good content and a tight community is a face that entices new blood to come and join the STEEM chain (a goal that groups like @oracle-d also try to manage). The survival of STEEM means that we need to show the benefits and quality of the chain to others that are outside the STEEM bubble, there is no use preaching to the choir!
  3. There are a few groups that are on the final 10 that I would dearly also love to reach the final goal, however, from a pragmatic point of view, there are only three groups that are within striking distance of the end (#Powerhousecreatives (aka @steemitbloggers), @votovzla , @team-cn). Whilst all these projects are all worthy of the delegation, I would argue that the benefit of having a community that is NOT centred around a particular country affiliation would be a more efficient and productive use of the delegation.

Vote here

Why should I bother?

Well... in the end, stronger communities and more presentable face of STEEM (other than the trending page) means more interest and potentially more users of the STEEM chain. More users and greater adoption means more demand for STEEM and thus the whole ecosystem benefits. We could even reach the holy grail of an acceptance of STEEM/SBD as acceptable forms of currency!

So, if you have a chance to vote for @steemitbloggers in this dpoll it would be greatly appreciated! However, while you are there, feel free to investigate the other projects as well... perhaps, you might find another project more to your liking. Voting is the key to a strong ecosystem...

... but I would highly recommend @steemitbloggers!

I voted finally!
;)

2 observations:

  1. The default / suggested price for a vote is 1 SBD. Paid voting is disgusting in my opinion (new7WondersoftheWorld). They know very well you can transfer 0.001 SBD. I know they are doing something kind, but really 1000X the necessary amount. Just say it costs 1SBD to vote.
  2. The campaign to win is frankly getting dirty for what is largely a grab for charity. I know the 2 of the top 3 are nationalist, but lots aren't.

ooooh I think I know what happened @bengy! Did you hit the "PROMOTE" button @abitcoinskeptic?

Oh I see what I did now. That's confusing. The promote button is much more visible to me. It looks like I wasn't signed into their site. Oddly, the promote button was nice and visible before signing in.

yes I thought so too! haha :) it is a natural gravitation to look for a button on the bottom right

Sorry for any confusion. But if it almost fooled me and held me back. I'm sure I'm not the only one. Haha.

haha!! No you aren't... I almost did it too haha :) so did you manage to come right now?

Yeah. After looking at it a second time, it seems easy. But I am logged in now so it looks a little different. Good luck with the poll.

Thank you so much! And thank you for the support :)

Hang on! There is paid voting going on? Which group... Hopefully not @steemitbloggers!

there is no payment to vote.... not that I know of anyway lol - its one poll though - so how would that even work... it would be applicable across the board then surely... which it isn't. Incorrect poll perhaps?

paid??!! say what now?

Thanks for the support (whoever you ended up voting for!)! The end run is winner takes all, and there are many of the other groups that have thrown their support behind us, with public posts to that effect. However, the limitations of the dpoll are such that they can't transfer their votes.

Great argument, @bengy. I keep on learning things about Steemit. Thank you

Thanks... hopefully it is persuasive for others as well!

Excellent post. I voted for Steemitbloggers. I'm glad to see them doing so well.

Thanks! We punched well above our weight!

We're in second place right now. Is it over?

Afraid the dust settled and we were second. But @steemitbloggers got a surprise delegation from @bluemist!

Still, a stellar standing. Just a few votes from the top contender. That is very impressive. And congratulations on the awesome delegation.

You make a good case. How does one sign up for steemitbloggers? I've heard of it before but am not part. If it's so great, maybe I should be :)
Good luck with the promotion. If @bengy likes it, it must be good.

I looked at it on Discord. There's an "application", but no real description of the organization besides the fact that its "tight" and "closed". I don't think I've ever applied to be part of anything where the terms weren't spelled out upfront. Is there such a description anywhere? What are the benefits of membership, besides exclusivity? What are the obligations of members, toward the group and each other, besides producing good content?
Why vote for a "closed" organization in which membership and benefits are restricted? I've joined CELF, ASAPERS, steemSTEM, bananafish, crowdmind, and others without such restrictions. These are all great groups. Why the exclusivity here?
Thanks for explaining, if you have the time.

I have asked the founder to try and make something in the application Discord that would help answer those questions. There are define benefits to open communities, however I have found that those communities can be prone to link dumping from the bulk of the community.

In a closed community with defined and enforced rules for engagement and post quality you do have a different feel and commitment to the Steem chain. The group is just under 100 bloggers, but a highly committed and driven bunch of people.

I guess the 'exclusivity' is a way of trying to maintain those standards. Different set of advantages and disadvantages...

As to the question of why to vote for a 'invite' group that you are not currently a member of? Immediate and personal benefits are none. However, strengthening a group of people who are committed to producing good content and engagement is good for the long term health of the whole chain (which has indirect personal benefits). The other groups (especially the front runners) in the running for delegation also have different and worthwhile visions for the support, but there are two arguments that would make against supporting them.

First, geographical restriction. @steemitbloggers is based upon merit and quality of writing and/or engagement. The other two are based on nationality or place of residence.

Second, open and loosely organised communities have been prone to abuse and scammers on the Steem chain. When there is no money or power, they are safe. When a large delegation comes in, they are inundated with bad actors looking for automated support. There is no guarantee of a @steemitbloggers vote on your posts, you are only assured of membership and community, not a blind autovote.

Hope this goes some way to answering your questions?

@jaynie @zord189

Thank you for that extended reply. I do understand the concept, and appreciate that some crazy voting goes on which seems to lead to unbalanced results. But I have found a few communities that aren't closed and give me a fair shake. Maybe because I come from an economically disadvantaged background, I'm really sensitive to equal opportunity issues. I'm glad you find support and reinforcement in steemitbloggers. Community and a sense of belonging are essential human needs (I've been writing about eusocial animals--turns out humans are counted among them) and so I get it :)
Appreciate you, @bengy. You're one of the good guys. And I wish steemitbloggers continued success.

Thank you very much for the well wishes @agmoore :) I will be publishing an application post soon after the poll craziness ends haha!! right now its all push push push! :)

I look forward to that. So nice of you to touch base :) I would love to learn more about Steemitbloggers (powerhousecreatives)!

I voted for steemitbloggers, I love the community. I resteemed this post also, to reach more people. Hopefully we win!

Thanks! We came close... but we punched far and away above our weight!

Nice job @bengy

Fingers crossed

Thanks! Getting the word out!

This one encompasses my sentiments.. I have already resteemed several and will save this one for a future resteem.

@bengy it is so wonderful to be a part of something you are in.
Always traveling as a classical musician and still finding time to post.

Well.. actually, when I'm travelling I have MORE time to post! No kids...

Looks like a good cause to support! I'll give it a vote. Cheers.

Thank you very much for your vote!!! We really appreciate it!

Thanks for supporting us old friend!

I voted! :) Love the Steembloggers! I hope they get the delegation, it would be awesome!!

Thank you!!!!!!

Thanks... it would be great to have the effort (past and present...) rewarded!

Although I have never received an upvote from Steemitbloggers I concur I like a non-country affiliate.
