🌞🔌 💡 Micro Power Plants are Coming, to a new homesteading community near you 🏡🏡

Our electrical grid is old, antiquated, and about to become junk. We have made it bigger and more complex and more interconnected in order to keep faults to a minimum, but in so doing, we have created a system where one person in Arizona can turn off the electricity for half of The USSA.

This electrical system has parts in it that were made before you were born. And if they were ever to burn out, they would have to build an entire manufacturing plant in order to start building a new one. Everything in the grid is 1950s technology. With a smattering of new technology to handle all the switches. Technology that the latest wikileaks has stated have been hacked. That someone has already created a back door whereby they could turn off anyone's power at will.

But don't believe that, because that is exactly what "smart" meters were designed to do (its not a back door, its the front door). There is nothing smart, in a "smart" meter. Nothing like managing current while they reconnect the mains, which needs a lot of resistance loads (like light bulbs), and few capacitive loads (like refrigerators) to smoothly bring the mains back on line. Nor does the smart meter do off-peak and night-billing. Nor a dozen other things that I, as an electrical engineer (one hat I wear) would have added to the thing first.

No, what the "smart meter" is designed to do is to disrupt human magnetic fields and to be able to turn your power off at any time the power company wants. Purely evil. (also it has been known to burn down houses.)

Many people have taken to getting off the grid.
To be in control of their own power. To stop being a slave to the power companies.

This is a noble endeavor, but is currently very expensive and requires quite a bit of expertise both in its installation and its usage. You can't just plug everything in and expect it to work like you would if your house was connected to the grid.

Now, if you expand the off grid system to about a dozen houses, you actually lower the price per house, while increasing fail-over systems and robustness. Further, you can use a more complicated energy making system, because out of a dozen families, you will probably have one mechanically inclined person to oversee maintenance and minor repairs.

And, if something catastrophic happens to the power system, you all just go over to your neighboring tiny community until the storm passes.

There will be no more, out of sight, out of mind pollution creating power plants. As the power plant will be in sight of your home. All of its emissions (or lack thereof) will be right in your face. Its smooth operation will be part of your life, instead of relying on invisible people, who may or may not be maintaining your life line.

Also, these tiny power plants will allow a group of like minded people, a new tribe, to go out and build their new homestead anywhere. They will not have to worry about building near existing power lines, or paying hundreds of thousands to have power run out to the middle of nowhere. (Paying them to spoil your lovely new vista with a row of phone poles.)

As this new, small community electric grids sweep across the globe, the antiquated grid system will just be left to rot.
Oh, it will be left functioning, for the longest time, just in case, but once the small community power plant start to show up, there will be no going back.
