To help kick off the Veteran Project, @chairborne put out a challenge for all vets who might be interest. So! Here's my tags:

Also, since I'm not one to just make a post with a single image in it, I've decided to include some of my best military memes from my time in the 82nd. AATW!

Andrei Chira is an anarchocapitalist, former 82nd Airborne paratrooper, and all-around cool guy. He's a father to one wonderful little girl named Kate, lives down in Alabama, and spends his time writing stories, posting to Steemit (not as much as he probably should), and cultivating the mental fortitude to make it through three years of law school.

Sort:

I remember the first time I saw a tow launcher, my dad was in the military, and I was in cadets; we took a trip with the Cadet corp to visit a US military base.
Keep in mind I was 12. I asked the guy who was giving us the tour why it's called a Tow missile.
Without missing a beat he goes "Because that's the part of the foot you use when kicking a tanks ass."

Fuck yeah. I had the chance to fire one on a live fire exercise, and holy shit. That thing was fucking awesome. You really get the feeling you are calling down the thunder with that thing.

Of course, I was assigned to clean up detail afterwards and had to wind up the copper wire used to guide the missile in. Needless to say I only had to have a strand of wire dig into my boot once to keep my eyes open for them.

Yeah. We weren't allowed to fire anything that expensive.

We did get to challenge the Snipers on the Rifle Range. We lost.

Beep! Beep! This humvee has patrolled by your post and approves of its content. @shadow3scalpel will be supporting new veterans, retirees, and military members on Steemit. Look at you spearheading all of these initiatives on top of law school and being a father! A normal man would easily succumb to the weight of everything, but I guess you're no normal man. Proud of you and of all that you've achieved so far, man! Keep pushing!

It's great that you decided to make a community for veterans. I think it's a great extension for what is physically accomplished in the VA. Thank you for your service!

Your mistake is assuming that I'm not succumbing to the weight of everything. On the contrary, I am literally drowning right now. The difference is I'm going to keep plugging away at it even as I'm gasping for air and sucking in water. It's either that, or quit, and I'm not about to quit. :D

Thank you for your comment and for noticing the post. I finally got around to posting something to your latest KOAN. I'm terribly sorry I haven't been more engaged!

Haha! As long as you have your priorities in order. Family first, then law school, then STEEM haha! I know you're making up for lost time during your long hiatus, but take a break once in a while before you suffer burnout, man.
