P.O.P. Contest - My extraordinary friend

This is a story about my friend named Lora. She is a person with an unordinary and thorny destiny.

Her first husband died tragically just before the first child was born. Lora's family was not rich, they did not have the money to pay the doctor. Because of this, she almost died in the hospital and was saved by a fluke.

Now Lora has a husband and three children. One of the boys is sick with cerebral palsy. Her husband and she bought a plot of land in the eco settlement and built a small house of eco-materials with their own hands. Her husband has a job, and she at home is engaged in a sick son, does exercises with him, teaches. He is a great kid with an amazing sense of humor, besides he's very clever. In addition, they are vegans.

I must admit that probably I have not met a more positive-thinking person than Lora. She is a stunning woman - beautiful, cheerful, kind and very generous. I admire her strong spirit.

Once, she invited me to visit her during a weekend. It was a Summer Solstice and a Day of their settlement (village).

Preparation for the holiday is very thorough and serious, and it is not just to dress up. Every house (family) prepares something: bring tables, utensils, build and decorate the stage, prepare food and drinks for everyone.

The highlight of the holiday is always a concert. Costumes, tools, texts - they prepare everything themselves, at the same time the children participate no less than their parents. Although a lot of kids showed up on that celebrating I don't recall any ofthem cried or got fussy. They all looked so happy and their faces glowed...

There were good dancers, singers, artists and musicians among them, but all guests were welcome to participate too :)

After a living in metropolis, apartment buildings where few know their neighbors, this small, close-knit and bright family is like a ray of light in my life. They have a modest living but it shows that happiness is something different - it's in love, in communication and fellowship, in grateful and sharing. Communicating with them always fills me with warmth, comfort and hope.
