We, the people, ...
It all started with the unbelievable happening, Trump won the election over Hillary Clinton. Next came the accusations the Russians colluded with Trump to help him win the election. This resulted in the Mueller investigation into the alleged Trump-Russia collusion that lasted over two years.
In the end, after more than two years and $25 million, Mueller found no evidence of collusion between Trump and Russia to rig the election. Subsequently the calls came to investigate the investigators. After all, if you know there was a crime and investigators can't prove it, the investigators must be up to something as well.
During the Mueller investigation, millions of documents were handed over by the administration, numerous people from the administration and Trump campaign were interrogated, and Trump never claimed Executive Immunity (like Obama did to protect Eric Holder). Letting the Mueller investigation come to it's conclusion, the report was released without Trump getting an advance copy to prepare for what might be in the report. The result, no collusion and no obstruction of justice.
After the Mueller investigation, Democrats want to continue the investigation and basically go back through the exercise of the Mueller investigation. Trump finally said enough and started saying no to their request. Now the call is that Trump is trying to cover something up. No one ever says what is being covered up, but something is being covered up.
Here's the breaking news, it's not what Trump is covering up that should be most concerning to these life-long politicians but what Trump is exposing. Trump is exposing the fact that we, the people, as the committee that selects politicians to serve don't know how to pick leaders. We, the people, have been selecting politicians that can give a good speech. Politicians that promise to do things for the country that we agree with, then never attempt to fulfill their promises to us. To hold these politicians accountable, we re-elect them back to the same office where they again do little to help the country and the cycle continues.
The majority of Republicans are no better than the majority of Democrats. Their making a career based on our ability not to recognize leadership in politicians. Many of us believe term limits would be a good idea in Congress, but continue to re-elect the same person over and over again. Congress will never impose term limits on themselves, that would end a cushy career before they have milked everything they can from the country. It's time for us, the people, to start looking harder at politicians looking to be re-elected and evaluate what that politician did for the country when they got their chance.
This political theater that's been going on since Trump was elected is not leadership. There are news articles indicating Mueller knew the first day of his investigation there was no collusion between Trump and the Russians. Letting the investigation continue for over two years when it was known there was nothing there is not leadership. Making claims that Trump is covering something up but not detailing what he is covering up is not leadership. Continually threatening to impeach President Trump is not leadership. If there is reason to impeach President Trump, someone needs to draft the articles of impeachment detailing why he should be impeached. By the way, the belief that Trump is covering "something" up is not an impeachable offense, real crimes will have to be detailed in the articles of impeachment.
Our government is wasting the two years this Congress has to do something good for the country and yes, something good for we, the people. Some of the members of Congress are positioning themselves to challenge Trump in the 2020 election and many of the others are working solely against the re-election of Trump. To many, it doesn't matter who is elected president as long as their last name isn't Trump.
Trump is exposing a truth that we, the people, have a problem selecting politicians with leadership skills. The existing politicians see this and worry their cushy careers will be cut short. The real coverup has been the attempt to camouflage the poor leadership abilities of our existing politicians.
We, the people, have to do a better job of selecting those destined to govern us. For potential first time members of Congress, we need to try to evaluate what kind of leaders they will be. When they come up for re-election, we need to carefully consider how they did in the past. Were they looking out for the us and the country or using their elected office more like some elite form of welfare.
Excellent conclusion! All in all it is our responsibility. Voting and walking away until the next election, basing your vote on campaign ads, asking someone else, name recognition.....I feel this is how most choose their leaders. I have been guilty....I voted for Obama the first time. Oops. A shame I may never live down.
Anyway, instead of asking a canddate how they feel or think about an issue lets ask them how their constituents feel! Half of them won't know what their majority want. They don't care.
This is a great point and e should all take some advice...pay attention.
The only reason I think most of our politicians are interested in what we, as their constituents, want is so they can put it in their next speech.
By the time they get done twisting our words they aren't recognizeable though.
